Stephanie, very disappointed when she left, Gillian and Martina (if it hadn't been a rumba maybe she would have stayed a bit longer.....)

Stephanie and Goldie for me as well - would have loved to see them go a bit further, especially considering who stayed in their series for longer.

Martina hingis ?
I remember Martina. I think she suffered because she didn't seem to be a known celebrity as such, which surprised me. I was hoping for great things from her.

Watching Martina's Rumba back, she was a definite contender for first out. What is it about Tennis Players and stiff hips? (no jokes, please)

Nicholas was surprisingly creepy, although he did a good line in top hat based choreography. He must have been dreadful, though, as even Jimmy Tarbuck and his exploding heart survived in the vote against him. Siobhan was lovely, but clearly an after the thought to the line-up and so was never going to go too far (TRUE FACTS- Siobhan & Matt were the first couple I ever voted for. I like to think that's where my inherent inability to pick anything close to a winner at the start of the series comes from)

I will also make a case for Tony Jacklin- who was there purely to make an example out of Aliona (hence him being given the Charleston in Week 2. Great Golfing punnery though)
Just out of interest who did you support later on who didn't make the grade?

I'm with Monkie on this one - Goldie had potential (I think Martina Hingis was a lot better than Rav Wilding though) and Steph was a star - it's kinda of shame the sexes were segrated although I suppose we might have lost Kenny Logan early and we wouldn't have had the wonderful all girls blues/swing group dance (I really miss the pro/celeb group dances - series five have three really fun ones) .

Another idiotic gender divided early series.
And again:

Gary Rhodes
Mark Foster
Don Warrington
Andrew Castle
John Sergeant
Austin Healey
Tom Chambers

How many really deserved to stay over GillianTaylforth?
At least half I'd say - the Sarge's ballroom was mostly sweet and of reasonable quality, Don Warrington's tango was pretty good - I think he got the boot before he deserved and would have been a good dancer on the ballroom, Mark Foster turned out to be a good ballroom dancer on the tour - Andrew Castle turned in a reasonable at least VW - Gary Rhodes was hopeless though.

Martina Hingis or Mica Paris as they might have improved. Stephanie Beacham for personality though.
Don't really remember Goldie, apart from thinking he was a bit leery like Dom Littlewood.

The tv chef was Gary Rhodes and he was with Karen. he went out the week after Gillian. He just didn't seem to take it seriously, didn't put aside time for training and there seemed to be a major personality clash between him and Karen.
He was dreadful. Couldn't even be bothered to turn up to the Monday exit ITT. Said he was "too busy". Poor Karen had to sit there on her own.

Martin Hingis.
She wasn't so bad and I think had great potential to improve.
