Sophie reminds me of one of those cold ice queen Russian women, not her fault at all.

I love Brendan's "we don't want to do a dirty filthy dance" implying that most of the other dancers are filthy/dirty xD

Now you're getting him confused with Terry!

There really was no need for the back hand insult to the other dancers though.

Of course it wasn't. He is a competitor and he is passionate about dancing, teaching and winning. And that is what we WANT in the pro dancers.

Sure sometimes he goes over the top a bit when the comments are silly or he is sensitive ... but I LOVE IT !

He is definitely passionate, but it seems like more about his profile than anything else.

No it isn't, it is always about his partners and on one occasion about all the pros when the judges were being particularly inconsistent about what they wanted

Brendan was responding to one comment by one judge. So in all this, the valid comments made by every other judge have been glossed over or lost.

Abbey herself said she listens to the judges comments and tries to work on the points raised. I don't get any of this from Brendan & Sophie, just outrage that one judge dared to ask for more raunch.

I think its fair to say that his ego and self absorbed in his mind creativity gets in the way of any possible interaction with a partner, we have actually seen this for ourselves in the training clips shown on It Takes Two recently.

And what about the training clip yesterday or the ones they show on the BBC SCD site or the others that have been very good - by Saturday the routines are perfect, whether the delivery works 100% in the Iive show is another matter. It is the same for everyone. If filmed on Monday it doesn't look great, but improves as the week progresses.
Most importantly, they seem to have a very good relationship and Sophie is enjoying herself. They get on very well, as Sophie has emphasised in a number of interviews.

That's not really a good point. We all know that the VT's are edited to show the Pro's and Celebrities as the best of friends and the Celebrities as having the time of their lives. I know this and it doesn't bother me but the VT's can not be used as evidence of camaraderie. They are as much show driven as anything else. All arguments and disagreements are simply edited out. We get a very skewed picture of what is actually going on in the various training rooms. What is the truth comes out in an unscripted moment of live TV, like Sophie's very sharp...

I really think too much is being made of that comment. That's the way I would speak to my brothers or a male friend I'm fond of.

Yes, of course, all the VT's for all the couples are heavily edited but there seems to me, from what I've watched on ITT in particular to be no issue.

She wasn't offended at all, she knew that Brendan was very emotional and no doubt meant to say just girls as he usually does - this is what she said about it in an interview

I enjoyed your line to him about being a 34-year-old last week.
Hahaha! Well, he was calling us “little girls” and “little boys”!

He seemed to mean it in a nice way.
I know. It made me laugh!

And regards the other point in your post, I was assuming Terry meant that Brendan wasn't getting the routine across to Sophie, not about their relationship - I go more by how they are together on ITT, or backstage etc. for that.

You can make as many jokey, matey VTs as you like but people can't fake body language. Look at Mark and Iveta, smiling eye contact, friendly physical contact, that's more real than all this fake stuff.

Interesting bit at the end.

And it’s the rumba this weekend?
Yes, that’s right. It’s started off well. Do you know much about rumba?

Sorry, no.
Well, it’s kind of slow and emotional and a bit saucy. Hahaha! I’m not in week one any more.

The judges do keep encouraging you to get a bit more saucy.
Well, yeah, watch this space!

Again what you are doing is using show footage to make a point. I've been watching Strictly and ITT since the show began, I have never heard a Pro or a Celebrity say one harsh thing about each other. It's always rosy in the Strictly garden. This is fine, but it has to be taken with a pinch of salt. Sophie says one thing, but what we got on Saturday night was something else. Then it was she couldn't do a dance that might upset her Dad, Gran or husband. Body language says a lot more, as has already been pointed out, and a sharp retort that has to be explained afterwards can say more than the words in that retort..

For her and with anyone else but her husband that probably was saucy. Brendan's hand swept down her front at one point.

Ultimately it's being unable to let go that is hindering Sophie. Nevertheless I find her delightful and enjoy watching her.

I think she is personally very nice, and she does have dance talent. But she has to perform the dance and that just isn't coming across IMO. Unfortunately for her and her husband Latin and Ballroom dancing involves physical contact with your partner. There is no way this can be avoided.
