Don't understand why Ben is so stiff in the upper body, he looks restricted, as if he he can't always do the move to it's full extent. His muscles aren't so big that they'd restrict him, so it must just be him.

The score was more accurate for him (imo) than they've been in a while.

TBH, the pros tend to move their limbs more than the celebs. I remember commenting on Aljaz earlier in the season - his legs and arms were moving through twice the distance compared to his partner.

Mark is actually a better dancer than Ben. Mark has had to learn steps and he has rhythm and character. He has to work for his scores by actually participating in a routine. He can't just stand in place and wait to throw Iveta around to get 8s and 9s like Ben does with Kristina.”

lol - I guess you are being distracted too much by the inevitable "Big Ben" stuff as well.

He was not under-marked. The Charleston isn't about lifts! The lifts were to disguise very poor dancing but did not succeed. He was poor and the choreography was poor.

It would help if he lifted his feet off the floor at times, not his pro partner

This sums it up for me.

TOTALLY agree with OP.

WAY undermarked tonight. Careful movements but in time with glorious lifts, good swivel action - should have been an 8.

Mark is by far my least favourite of the remaining contestants, and I wanted him out weeks ago

BUT.... tonight I thought he was FAR better than Ben. I'm pleased that the judges have finally released that he shows off his body and his strength to try and hide the complete lack of dance ability. I thought he was awful tonight and really should be in the bottom 2.

I was a fan tonight. Really enjoyed that dance. It had precision and I know that's why they scored it as they did. They want wacky and flamboyant. Well, they want squalid rumbas too.

So I'm at odds with the judges on the rumba AND tonight's Charleston.

Still way over-marked. He is just doing lifts all the time. But perhaps better than Lisa from Manchester who went to the semi-finals.

He was a lot worse than Mark both technically and in feeling.

Ben is still incapable of leading a dance at a wedding; whereas Mark (the second worst left) is.

Ben? Under-marked? No. Absolutely not. It was the most sensible mark he's received in many weeks.

I thought he was fairly marked. I was actually shocked because I was expecting him to get around a 33 before the dance. Also his footwork looked a lot better in the training videos than the live performance.

It was all about Kristina. But then it always is!

Several of the pros, perhaps understandably, concentrate on distracting attention from the fact that the celebs aren't really moving about very well, or in some cases moving at all.

I prefer the pros who try to genuinely improve their victims and challenge them with more content. It's riskier but far more interesting and entertaining. Furthermore just occasionally it actually works and then that's really rather wonderful.

<edited to reduce the "actually" content which was excessive, even for me>

Definitely under scored, that Darcey would score him less than Mark is ridiculous.

But i don't really think he should have been above anybody but Mark. As much as i would liek him to have been above Susanna.

This was the first time he has been marked fairly for weeks. Little content, poor choreography, it just wasn't a good charleston. He's a nice guy, but it's about the dancing and trying to hide behind doing similar lifts every week won't work forever.

Ben's dances are always precise because he hardly moves in any of them.

Haha, I agree, he was very flat footed in this dance. It doesn't help that Kristina choreographs the routine so that she is the only one moving.

I thought that was his best dance and he does seem to be progressing which is what the show is all about. Yes I thought he was a tad under marked and was distinctly better than Mark Benton who according to some reports is dancing with busted knees.

ps for a man of his size, I thought he danced well.

I think Ben made a few slight errors on his lifts so for once he didn't have such fantastic lifts to compensate for his movement. Seven is a score for a decent dance but short of being a good dance, so it is about right for Ben and Mark.

Couldn't agree more.

BIB: Spot on. I've noticed for a while now that Kristina is either throwing herself around him to disguise the fact that he's not that good or throwing in big lifts in to get the 'wow' factor. Ben, to me, just doesn't have much natural rhythm and tends to stomp about a bit. In fact a few weeks ago I remarked to my mum that he really wasn't much better better than Dave but Kristina was taking his shirt off to try and distract us and, credit to her I suppose, it's worked! (though I admit I might have been exaggerating a bit so say he wasn't much better than Dave )

Yes, Zoe mentioned on ITT this week something about his knees - cartilage damage (in their first week of practising if I recall correctly) which is why he wears the braces to practice. Sounds painful and fair play to the bloke he hasn't mentioned it and has played it down (I just thought he might have dodgy knees with his weight ) Either way though I honestly think the man has natural rhythm and can move better than Ben.

I thought that Ben danced well too.

Ben has been over marked each week. He is clearly better than when he started but if you cut out the lifts and gave him Dave's physique you might struggle to find his dancing impressive.
