The Terrible Music Choices Are Not Helping The Dancers

It was so apparent tonight that the dreadful music choices this week did not help any of the dancers.

Susanna and Kevin's Paso last week was enhanced by the traditional music choice.

Why can't the producers see this. Why do they keep insisting on these inappropriate music choices.

Maybe next week will improve, if it's a 'Musicals' week.

It's been a fault series after series and, from what Ola said on OTT, choice of costumes has not been left to the couples either. That's why she had that stupid cow boy theme. SO appropriate.......NOT!!!

Please allow the professionals some latitude to prove their professionalism!

the singer ruined Natalie's tango for me

Thought Abbey's music for a paso was especially dire.

Couldn't agree more - the music tonight was universally dreary and/or ill suited to the dance.

I think they needlto rethink the music they use. I didnt like Abbeys paso cause it wasnt paso music. They need to go back to traditional music rather than songs that sound like a cat being strangled.

Who chooses their music?

Natalie & Artem's music choice was awful - did not go with a tango at all. Her outfit didn't go with it either. Purple? Didn't feel or look like a tango at all.

I prefer traditional music especially in the tango, paso doble and charlestons.

Picking a dance track for a tango was very poor.

Enhanced? The ,music choice made their Paso - The dance would have been nothing without it.

Every single choice was a fail. The dance is nothing without the music, as we all know.

That was altogether the most tedious Strictly that I can remember.

A few duff ones this week

Natalie seemed to be dancing to a "non tune."
I've much the same opinion of Abby's. I dislike tunes with repetitive lyrics, it usual means that the music will be much the same.

Though I'm usually supportive of the band and singers, I thought their rendition of "Will You Love me Tomorrow?" was poor.
Lots of versions of this on YouTube, from the original written by Carole King and Gerry Goffin for the Shirelles, to that of hers from her Tapestry album to her later duet with James Taylor. Far more emotion in those.

When I saw the list of music earlier I was sure I'd be impressed, but over-all I wasn't.

Get a grip producers.

I found it difficult to watch Natalie's tango because the music was so bad. To be fair, the band can only play what they are told to play, and as such I've no quarrel with them, but please please please will they ditch the singers! They (sorry, but especially the female singer) overpowered the dancers, and completely spoiled the show.

When singing for dancers they need to remember its the dancers who should have centre stage, and attract the attention .

I think I read that each pro dancer is given 3 music choices for their given dance and they have the pick the best one they think will work best. It makes you wonder what other rubbish tracks they were offered some weeks.

Natalie's music was awful....definately not for a tango.

I completely agree, I even went to wash the pots at one point. Not good The music was dreadful, worst choices of the series and that's saying something. And don't get me started on Brendan...

It'll just the BBC's version of "Hobson's Choice"

It'll be a choice between the one the producer wants and two even more dire.
That is, if they get a choice at all.

I wonder why the producers think they know better what suits a particular dance than a professional dancer and choreographer does?

The music choices were bad enough, but all seemed way beyond what the orchestra and singers were capable of performing. I feel sorry for the dancers.

I couldn't agree more either. Dance after dance, I thought if only they had better music. For me, the music and costume can make or break a dance and an awful lot were broken tonight!

agreed. it's not so much the choice of song as much as its that awful band / singer.

It's really starting to ruin all the dances, abbey's dance wasn't helped much either, in fact quite a few were ruined tonight.

Totally agree. There was some great dancing that was ruined by the bad choice of music. I'm all for modern music, but it has to suit the dance. I was just bored with Natalies dance, mainly through music choice, I just couldn't get into it. Abbey's should of thrilled me, the music distracted. Whitney was a bad choice!

Without music you've got no dance. With inappropriate music, it's just movement gymnastics.

ETA: I think the band do a great job by the way, so not knocking them like some do here. Actually, some of the versions of songs they do are faithful to the originals which sadly a lot of people seem to miss.
