Please, please give us traditional

Stuff contemporary dance.
After Kevin's fecking amazing Paso, I realised what we are missing.

Stop fooling around with cowboys and hairdryers and blue dresses for Paso, give us some traditional dance and music

I agree completely. In particular, the tango dance music didn't work for me, for either dance, and Ashley's waltz was spoiled for me because of the beat. I couldn't work out if it was 3/4 or not (I couldn't figure it out at all, frankly, even though I know the song very well), and I didn't get 'pulled into' the dance because of it. I thought Ashley did very well, considering.

If they can't give us total tradition, then at least the producers could choose better than they do. Get some suggestions from actual dancers or consultants, maybe.

I thought Artem's dance was so off the music, I kept thinking, they aren't dancing to the music!

I agree. The tango and paso music was the worst ever.

i am not a stickler for 'traditional' music, but i hated every song tonight, except for sophie's rhumba. otherwise the tracks were at best ill suited and at worst positvely deterimental to the dancing, esp the paso, which i thought abby did rather well at otherwise.

I completely agree, OP. The music for pretty much every dance tonight was imo awful. It seemed like an R'n'B-fest to me. I much prefer the music to actually fit the style of the dance, rather than 'let's just use this music because it fits the time of X dance and most people will have heard it'.

Totally agree too.
Hated the Tango music tonight and I really think that had it been a bit more tangoy ( you see I am well versed in the dance speak malarkey) it would have been fantastic

The music ruined every dance for me tonight. In fact in ruins the dances for me most weeks but there were exceptions other weeks but tonight's music was consistently the worst ever and particularly the awful wailing of Arch's 'singers'. Please make it stop before it's too late and Bruce was worse than ever.

I agree- and if they did more trad stuff, then the modern twists on an old favourite would stand out more and be better appreciated. It's all about the balance.

Another one who agrees - traditional music creates a far better atmosphere as well

Personally and it's not the dancers faullt, they often look ridiculous and detached when dancing to the inappopriate music that has been chosen.

I am not fussed about traditional music, and what exactly do you mean by that?

what year are we to have the cut off, nothing younger than 1960's ?

I thought the bang bag charleston was a good thing as it worked well for me.

However last nights music choices were awful, simply dire to the detriment of the dances, I don't think we need traditional music , just something that matches the dances.

I spent the whole Artem and Natalie performance trying to hear the 3/4. I eventually heard it but it was more of a 6/8. Very off putting and no sharpness in the music to help accentuate the staccato moves of the dance.
