Brendan was right (merged)
For weeks the judges have constantly been nitpicking at Sophie over the simplest of things and tonight Brendan finally told them were to go.
Their Rumba was great and not everything in this day and age has to involve sex. |

I don't think they like Sophie to be honest.
I'm sick of all this constant rubbish about her dances being cold. The judges have their favourites and sadly Sophie isn't one of them. |

Have to laugh at accusations elsewhere on here that he threw a tantrum.
Anyone would think he smashed the gaffe up and kicked the bejazus out of the judges. Considering many of his detractors act like they think they' re tough, they wouldn't know a tantrum if it introduced itself . |

Sophie and Brendan danced a rumba that was sensual, and was full of emotive passion. Wonderful choreography. Sophie poured her heart into it, as did Brendan.
I would rather see their sensual rumba than a raunchy dance. Brendan said what I would have said to the judges. He did not lose his temper, he spoke factually. |

Absolutely. It could have been another 'raunchier' style of Rhumba. But for the story and type of Rhumba they selected it was lovely. 9

We loved it. Sophie is definitely undermarked

Brendan was 100% spot on. I totally disagree with what the judges said, what Bruno was asking for to me isn't what the Rumba is about.
Brendan didn't thow a tantrum at all, although I have with the rest of you seen the other threads which claim he did. I actually thought he was very controlled with his view, and quoted facts. I also think Sophie is a lot better than they give her credit for, and seem rather blinkered with Natalie. Had anyone else also noticed that last week they were dishing out 10's like sweeties, but this week they were being terribly harsh? I know that we only have four weeks to go, but even so I think the marked change is unfair, and unnecessary. |

Rather Sophie's restraint than the sight of Kristina's implants threatening to escape from their moorings

it was my favourtie dance of the evening, elegant, restrained, genuinely intimate, and the only dance to have a suitable/decent piece of music. i just wish both sophie and brendan had kept quite after it.

He was partly right, partly wrong.
Bruno should not have suggested the rumba had to be raunchy. It doesn't. But I think the other judges were making valid points. There was something missing in Sophie's rumba. |

there's a thread trying to say that a rumba should be danced like kara and artem's.... saying that brendan should be doing something like this... it's a bit more difficult when you're not in love with your partner

totally agreed with Brendan and tbh, Bruno's lasciviousness and constant sex references are getting a bit dull and a bit awkward, it is family viewing. We can guess how you like your rumbas, Bruno, but some of us do like some of the dances to leave something to the imagination.
We nearly turned off for good after Robbie Savage manhandling himself, in the last series it was revolting. Sophie's dance was beautiful and elegant. It seems to me this series the judges are all too often bang out of order, saying who they 'want' to see in the final - rather than waiting to see who earns the places. |

I don't like Brendan and don't like the rumba but I totally agreed with Brendan and quite enjoyed their rumba.
I do think there is a problem in their partnership and it smacks of a controlling husband they seem to be walking on eggshells |

Yeah I do agree about Sophie's husband but I guess there's nothing we can do about that.

I loved Sophie & Brendan's Rumba. Thought it was the best dance of the night and it's lovely to see some feminine modesty on TV on a Saturday night.

Brendan was definitely right to be annoyed.
They are not my favourite couple, but could soon be if the judges continue to fail to give them proper credit for their dances. Not since the Charleston has Sophie had proper recognition for her dancing ability IMO. |

Bruno should not have suggested the rumba had to be raunchy. It doesn't. But I think the other judges were making valid points. There was something missing in Sophie's rumba. The judges though are just not up to it with a lot of their comments. Ola had to point out this week that they were criticising Ashley last week for a concept she was given, along with cowboy outfits. Any competent judge would know that comment was nonsensical. They also have stereotypical views of what they like, which ends in ridiculous comments like calling females who are in demand for men's magazines sexless. There's also the silly cases where they have demanded steps, and stories, that the music just didn't fit. In this case, they are guilty of assuming a dance could only take the most obvious, most familiar form. Brendan is perfectly right to point out that you can portray more complex emotions, you have to follow the music, and its the job of any critic to work out whats being intended, and mark that - not what they were expecting. |
