And good in for Brendan to say it

I like Sophie but I do tend to watch her with my fingers crossed each week.

What does amuse me is Brendan moving the goal posts to fit. He says ah yes but we did a different kind of a Rumba & Argentine Tango where you don't have to show the required emotion for the dance, because he had to do it that way to suit Sophie, which is a completely different thing. For me it would be like one of the pros saying, well we wanted to a different sort of Charleston where there was no charleston steps.

Brendan needs to sort out Sophie's acting skills if he can & if he can't then he needs to do the best he can & let the audience make up their own minds.

He seems to do this every year when he gets a popular partner who is struggling. Why not just teach them to dance basic Latin steps properly. The basic technique works for most Latin dances and knowing what to do and how you are supposed to move is really empowering.

Was what really necessary?

Me calling people out on accusing Brendan of tantrums, or them accusing him of it?

Nothing up with the routine just the way it was performed - rumbas do not have to be raunchy but they must have the correct rumba technique and the routine lacked it

Her technical ability watching back was their bit more hip action but she pushed through her feet, and strength in her core which has improved l, and balance too, and the hardest brushing past on her feet which watch back

She did it well

I agree the rumba doesn't need to be about sex. For me though it should have romance, and I think Sophie was a bit too stilted to do the routine complete justice. I think she did a good job, but she wasn't as fluid as the rumba needs to be. She missed a great opportunity to be up close and personal with Brendan lol.

Ian taught Jodie how to rumba in week 3 she got both the leg and hip action and connection. This is what Sophie is missing.

While I agree with his core idea, dances can be tailored to suit the person, maybe the judges are a little tired of it with Sophie.

Sophie's cool Rhumba, her cool jive, her cool latin - maybe they want something to be something other than frigid? It seems hypocrisy to put down Mark and Dave for doing comedy routines that don't follow the style of the dances, and simultaneously praise Brephie for doing ostensibly the same thing -- shoehorning their dances into one size fits all. (Albeit to a less drastic level naturally)

That being said....haha. I like Sophie and I didn't mind the Rhumba. Just playing devils advocate.

Dance of the night (again), romantic, sensual and evocative.
Brilliantly choreographed by Breandan and beautifully danced by Sophie.
Don't know what those idiot judges were watching, have they decided they don't want Sophie and Brendan to win?
Then I'll vote for them even more!

Sophie and Richard (her husband) are very close and supportive of each other. She always attends his bands concerts often with the two eldest children. She often sings with them. I have never seen anything that indicates he is controlling. In fact if anything she seems to be clingy and insecure

Agree.

I like Sophie, but she disappoints me.

I would expect Bruno to want something raunchier but I was surprised that Darcey did not speak up for Sophie more. With her background I would have thought she would appreciate a more subtle perfomance.

think the press are on Brendan and sophies side too nice ro see maybe they will realise when they give tens for bad routines and a good one comes along like last night a bit different, I have watched rumbas where they dance bare foot and put a contemporary flare into it, which is what it was, amazing shame judges reminded me off the grumpy one from strictly ballroom last night :S don't change it as the rest won't be able to do it

I agree. Just watched it again. It was beautiful and Brendan had every right to be annoyed.

I agree with what Brendan said, and it was nice to see a rhumba without smut, but unfortunately she seems to be unable to do anything other than 'beautiful china doll'. Her face is like a mask, no expression at all, she reminds me very much of Rachel Stephens, who had the same problem.

Absolutely agree, their rumba was beautiful, dance of the night for me

Just wanted to say I thought Brendan handled that well, there was a tantrum as people are saying, is just going over then top, brendan simply spoke just a statement, pros job are to look after their partner and shows the character of a man to say hang on I disagree with that, when danced beautifully.

The judges are going to give poor Sophie a complex they keep nit picking, she changes and improves last night was her best Latin, and where as other couples got praise, Sophie got bashed, with no reason, apart from they have their favourites.

Brenda, who is a an amazing choreographer, and has been praised by the judges for this almost every week, has the right to say how he developed the danceto suit his partner, a raunchy rumba would have been slated by the judges, they danced something different, and elegant, technical good too

Nice to see other pro dancers forum members, the press media, saying same, about what a rumba is about.

Brendan well said, Sophie did you and her family friends and fans proud and you proud

The Rumba should have hip action.

I agree - Brendan was right to speak up on this occasion. The dance was lovely and I saw plenty of hip action.
