Do the judges dislike Sophie?

No matter what Sophie does the judges constantly find faults even with her best performances.
Tonight her dance was one of my favourites and I did not find it cold and neither did the audience so it seems that the judges have some kind of problem with her with constantly finding silly faults.

And glad Brendan finally put them in their places tonight.

They're my favourite couple.

They find faults, as a rule, because there are faults.

S'not brain surgery

Tis also not brain surgery that they find far more faults far more harshly than they do with couples who are at the same competence or worse.

I agree other couples have danced worse and don't get critisized as much as they do.

She's getting the 'Louis treatment' imo, going after her performance again and again ready for a big comeback either next week or the week after, most likely with a Tango or Paso.

You're just uber sensitive to comments directed at your favourite couple.

Basically they said she was too shy and careful, and lacked emotion - sounds about right to me, Brendan choose to take the hump and ramp it up to make it into a "I'm not doing a sex routine" thing.

I've felt that from the first show. I've thought more than once that Sophie and Brendan were marked down.

Sophie's not my favourite and I agree with the op. I didn't see her being shy or lack emotion. The judges had to be told and thankfully Brendan did that tonight.

They took a metaphorical sledge hammer to her tonight, it was bad cop, bad cop, bad cop , bad cop routine. Unusual on the show usually one of them tries to sugar the pill. What their motivation is , who knows.

Yes it definitely seems that way. It doesn't seem to matter what they do, they get marked harshly. Where as other couple just seem to have to turn up to get ridiculously high marks...

Not sure which judge it was craig or len, gave sophie the same points as mark!

I think they have already decided who they want to win, or at least who they want in the final four, and Sophie isn't one of them. They seem to be looking for faults only and not looking for any good points. I think they undermarked her last week and this week.

I agree. Even to me a non-Sophie fan it's been blatantly obvious. There have been far worse dancing couples over the weeks, who have been lauded to the skies and given top marks, in most cases totally undeserved.

No, it's not really. I can take Brendan or leave him personally, but he is a skilled dancer and a great choreographer. His choreography throughout the series has been pretty good...but he might as well be dancing with a very well made mechanical doll. Sophie is a lovely girl till she gets out on the dance floor. Every Saturday night I sit there and will some emotion from to come through. There has been about three occasions it has, the rest of the time it's like she retreats into a closed house with the windows shades down. She performs the movement of the dance and that's it. It takes more than that. Suzanna really goes for the emotional impact in her dancing, she is not as skillfull as Sophie but her joy in the dance makes her seem better than she is, also her connection with Kevin has real chemistry I sometimes think that Sophie walls herself off from Brendan. It doesn't make for a dance that engages people.
Also Brendan should stop blaming the judges for noticing what other people have been saying for weeks. I know you are a Brendan fan but blaming the judges for his tantrum is not nice. He's a professional, he should stop throwing tantrums. Each judge said it tonight and I for one don't think they are in a conspiracy to knock Sophie. I think they are getting tired of her not delivering. That rumba was cold enough to make ice cubes.. It had lovely lines but so does a well made ice sculpture. .

I think she has been undermarked for weeks - especially compared with the blokes and Abby.

But tonight's dance wasn't a rhumba.

That isn't her fault but you have to draw the line somewhere and Brendan's choreography was outside that line by a mile.

It would have gone very well as say part of the Gene Kelly "An American in Paris" sequence. But then that sequence has always bored the bejabbers out of me as a pretentious, tedious load of old tut. Brendan's wasn't that bad but it belonged in the "show dance" and should have been kept for that (if, as I personally hope, they get that far).

I think she leaves them cold... Hope she goes on Sunday .

I think she's hard to connect with when she dances and that maybe contributes to it. She does the moves and executes them, but I never really feel anything while watching her routines. It may be partly down to the choreography, but she doesn't really force the connection that I see when I watch some of the others, even the less talented competitors.

I like Sophie a lot, and I do think the judges are harsh on her, but I think that disconnect is maybe partly responsible for it.

I am not an expert but I seem to like Sophies & Brenda's dances more than the judges do. I tend to look at body shapes and movements and from that I really liked it and thought they were under marked.

Think Brendan is a wonderful dancer and could watch him dance for hours, I also think Sophie is an elegant mover too but (in general) I don't like Brendans choreography for him and Sophie. To me if feels a bit wishy washy and sometimes as though he is trying to make the dance very "cool".
However with other partners I think his choreography has been sublime.

Maybe it's reverse psychology
Mark her down so furious fans will vote more?
I agree they seem to mark her more harshly than some of the others. Just hope she does not get disheartened as she is a beautiful dancer

Absolutely agree, Mrs. Mop. Loved you with Gene Kelley, btw.

I think it's more a case that a lot of people on here have a crush on her . I really like her as a person but her stiffness and coldness when she performs spoil my enjoyment of her as a dancer. I think the judges on the whole are being fair.
