It's Musicals Week, and given the "top hat" reference by Tess tonight I suspect that's basically Broadway week redux. Depending on whether or not week 11 sees the return of dance fusion we can guess at disciplines as they should have 2 ballrooms and 2 latins left at the semi-final.

Abbey & Aljaz - poss ballroom; remaining dances American Smooth, Argentine Tango, Salsa, Samba, Viennese Waltz
Ashley & Ola - poss latin; remaining dances Argentine Tango, Charleston, Foxtrot, Rumba, Salsa
Ben & Kristina - MUST be ballroom as of the latin he only has the samba left so he's got to be doing that in the semis; remaining dances Argentine Tango, Foxtrot, Samba, Tango, Viennese Waltz
Mark & Iveta - probably another ballroom as he's got so few latins left after that 3-week block of them; remaining dances Argentine Tango, Charleston, Quickstep, Samba, Viennese Waltz
Natalie & Artem - poss ballroom; remaining dances American Smooth, Argentine Tango, Foxtrot, Paso Doble, Salsa
Patrick & Anya - poss latin; remaining dances Argentine Tango, Charleston, Paso Doble, Rumba, Waltz
Sophie & Brendan - poss ballroom; remaining dances American Smooth, Paso Doble, Salsa, Tango, Viennese Waltz
Susanna & Kevin - poss ballroom; remaining dances Argentine Tango, Foxtrot, Quickstep, Rumba, Salsa
They won't be doing two dances until the semi-finals (week 12).

I don't think we're getting fusion this year, there's nothing in the programme information for that week but on digiguide there's this:

Quote:
“GAME SHOW: Strictly Come Dancing
On: BBC 1 HD (141)
Date: Saturday 7th December 2013 (starting in 13 days)
Time: 19:10 to 20:15 (1 hour and 5 minutes long)

Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman present a night to remember on the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom floor. The competition is at melting point as the six surviving couples pivot, twist and turn to keep the glitter ball trophy in their sights. Voting lines open at the end of the show; once the judges' scores have been added to viewer votes, the two lowest-scoring couples will perform again in the dreaded dance-off during Sunday's results show.
(Stereo, Widescreen, High Definition, Subtitles, 4 Star)”

No mention of a theme. Hopefully this is the case as other than Kimberley's the fusion idea really didn't work last year.

Still think that they will skip at least one dance, especially since we still have a shipload of salsa's to get through (all the girls and Ashley still have to do it, and it seems unlikely that one of them will be voted off this weekend).

I think Abbey could be latin again she did quickstep last week and latin this week - Susanna has done 2 latin in a row so def Ballroom

Fusion wasn't announced until the results show the previous week last year - although given that it's sort of a 'theme' week it would perhaps be a bit odd to do it the week after this.

Oh thank you. I thought the semi was week 11 for some reasons .

Until this series I would have been excited about the Musical theme, but the producers have made some dreadful choices for some couples and it makes me very wary about what we will see. I hope it is the best show of the series so far - it's not as if that's a hard target to hit.

BIB - I'd like to see this too - probably to "Somewhere" from West Side Story - think that'll be really nice.

Hopefully his improvement will also mean that he'll avoid the dreaded curse of the celebrity male not being great at the Rumba - maybe even get a 10???

ETA : assuming he's through to week 10 of course ...

I'd rather Sophie got the Tango next week, much easier to really go out and "perform" with a Tango than an American Smooth to culminate the "journey" the judges/producers are pushing on her. She can do the American Smooth the week after, if there's no fusion. Leaving the Viennese Waltz (which I think will be her best dance) and Paso for the Semis.

If recent weeks are anything to go by, Mark will get something from Cats and wardrobe will dress him in a furry suit with a tail.

There's plenty of great choices. One problem is getting the wrong ones for the dance. the more worrying one is that they may try and sing the songs - there's a reason why the West End employs some of the best singers in the country, and the leading roles are not shared between many people.
