No spoilers please.

Do bookies take bets on SCD between the live show and results show? I'm assuming that the bookies would know the live show result but some of their punters would not. How does this affect any odds they give for the overall winner after each Saturday show?

They shouldn't and once they have gleaned the result from the spoiler thread, the betting will open again with the eliminated pair removed.

The bookies will have a BBC insider in the crew to text the result using an untraceable Lebara SIM.

They may even know the result from the producers before the dances.

I worked for a bookie on Saturdays while at University. The Turf Accountant as he was then called said "Son. Never bet on a horse that can talk". i.e. don't bet where somebody has inside information or can manipulate the result.

That's my advice. Keep well away from SCD (and similar) betting as there are people who know more than you.

They seem to close the betting after the live show but not sure at what point. To much of a risk of someone in the audience going straight and placing bets.

Apart the spoiler on her, there is website that has the result. I don't know if it is an 'official' press site or just another fan site. I can't imagine the BBC giving out the result to the press officially.

The was a huge amount of speculation about the Bake Off result but it did not seem to leak despite there being family and friends at the final as well as TV crew and hotel staff. A bookmaker was interviewed somewhere and they monitor for any unusual betting activity. I seem to remember there was a bit of a surge but not for the actual winner.

Betfair freeze their markets. Most bookies stop betting until Sunday however a few reopen on Saturday once the result is out, taking off the contestant who has left and adjusting odds.

Always assumed they had an insider however I think once on here nobody had a source at the show (or maybe it was a false spoiler?!) and it was clear that the bookies didnt know the result either which led people to believe their source is actually the DS spoiler thread.
