The full thread is at http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1806088. Based on that, elsewhere in the UK It seems that the Orange 2G fallback isn't available in Northern Scotland but parts of Wales still have it.”

I am not in the county area.

There is no 2G at all, voice wont work without 3G on.

On the battery drain it it does indeed drain fast if in the default 2g+3g mode, but I forced it to only 3g, and the battery drain is not much more than normal 2g drain. It drained really fast when in 2g only mode due to it constantly trying to find a signal and I guess similiar in 2g+3g mode but not so bad.

Sadly tho I cant find a way to only use basic 3g for data tests still and all tests remain aweful even at dusk hours.
