How do the lady dancers feel secure in the gusset area. I would be a bit concerned that something would pop out the side.
Do they wear special pants?

Extra-special-super-big-anti-ride-up-spangled-maximum-strength-gusset pants.

No need to worry at all.

I seem to remember they did an item about them on ITT. They are made of kevlar and held in place by an industrial sealant ... or something like that.

If anything popped out would that not show they are *not* a lady?

Wasn't it Pamela Stephenson who said she was advised to wear a thong and a couple of pairs of knickers under the dance costume? I don't think she said whether she took the advice!

they don't wear pants its a leotard to stop the knickers round the ankles scenario , the dress is constructed around the leotard, if I remember correctly Anne Widicombe insisted on wearing her own underwear and they always feared this might happen.

Is this why even though the female dancers look like they are dancing "bare legged" they are actually wearing a mesh-tight that doesn't show up under lights? (I hope I've explained that OK! - and that I've even got it right!)

Do they wear special pants?”

This is a complicated question.

For the amateur I am finding the fashion for ladies pants that are like little shorts that extent a little way down the leg are a boon. They don't ride up, don't form a wedgie and on the rare occasion that some fella decides he is going to show off his muscles and put me into an (unwelcome) extreme dip or semi lift I feel covered and secure. Ideally I would rather not show the world my pants but at least all I show is pants.

Commercial over.

Both Ballroom and Latin dresses are based on a leotard. The "leotard" is made first and the dress is then made on top of the leotard. These are very secure with elasticated legs- as in knickers- made to the dancers measurements so will stay in place.I have never had a problem with this part of the dress "moving" or "riding" up or anywhere else, they stay firmly in place. It would be up to the dancer to decide if she preferred to wear underwear or not, but not necessary in my opinion.
The question re "bare legs", from my experience, dancers, especially those tanned, fake or otherwise, may prefer bare legs, a lot of latin ladies wear skin coloured fish net tights (made especially for dancing), Ballroom ladies sometimes wear hosiery or go bare legged.

It was two pairs of tights that Pamela Stephenson wrote (it was three years ago!)

4 UNDERCOVER STORY

Reader beware: those with weak stomachs may want to skip this section. A health-and-safety warning is also issued: DON’T TRY THIS AT HOME!

First I don the smallest of G-strings. (Steady on people, it only gets worse.)

I then step into a pair of too-small support tights and wrench every last ounce of cellulite firmly inside.
Another pair of tights – fishnets if it is a Latin dance, plain if it’s ballroom – goes on after that.

The waistbands of both pairs of tights are snipped at the waist to avoid the ‘muffin-top’ look I so oft-sport, especially when wearing jeans (weekends only).”

How do they cope if they need a loo break? Is there a sequin catheter sewn into all these layers?

Probably like a friend when he goes on long journeys - Zero In, Zero Out! I think it comes from his previous job which involved long periods in very confined spaces.

Yes I remember that, but Ann wore long bloomers, who can forget those enormous yellow ones she flashed.

That is an education! Imagine the camel toe smoother pinged out during a frenetic lift and hit Brucie or one of the judges
What name??
