Having made high cut leotards for dancing and gymnastics can tell you there is a couple of ingenious devices

first Butt glue (honest ) called stay put glue in Uk http://www.dancemania.biz/staysput-b...ge-bottle.html

and smooth groove http://www.dancemania.biz/smoothgroove.html to avoid camel toe
That is an education! Imagine the camel toe smoother pinged out during a frenetic lift and hit Brucie or one of the judges
I was just about to say, very educational . Love the things you learn in this forum.

Pay attention will you? They are wearing two pairs of tights, so the tights hold them in. Although I suppose the could slip down a leg...

What a fascinating thread!

If you need a loo break, it is very easy to roll the dress down as you would if you were wearing a swimsuit. Latin dresses are very easy to get in and out of as they are made of very stretchy fabrics, such as lycra. Ballroom dresses may or may not have a zip. My dresses never have an unsightly zip, this creates a perfect silhouette. Again easy to get in and out of.

For the amateur I am finding the fashion for ladies pants that are like little shorts that extent a little way down the leg are a boon. They don't ride up, don't form a wedgie and on the rare occasion that some fella decides he is going to show off his muscles and put me into an (unwelcome) extreme dip or semi lift I feel covered and secure. Ideally I would rather not show the world my pants but at least all I show is pants.

Commercial over.
Yep, I have a lovely practice skirt which I has fairly highish slits up the side but shorts underneath.

How do they cope if they need a loo break? Is there a sequin catheter sewn into all these layers?
With great difficulty. The worst I had was a convertible latin to ballroom (long skirt goes over a latin dress). To go to the loo I had to take the ballroom skirt off first (no zip) and then the latin dress which had an underlying leotard with no zips. Each loo break meant about 10 lost crystals! (And that's not a euphemism.)

Also suggests that some of the celebrities featured with very obvious 'camel toe' in the tabloids wanted that it to be seen and photographed.

Thank you for the answers aim genuinely interested. I used to take ballroom classes as a child but was pushed toward ballet more, so I know how to manipulate a leotard!

I love having new dresses made by my professional. Starting off with the unflattering but comfortable "leotard" . My world famous dressmaker asks me to provide a comfy bra ( normally the soft T shirt bra type) and the cups only are sewn in, so it is fitted to me exactly I am really secure in the dress, but more importantly me, stays put. No danger of "escaping" in QS or any dance. The dress is then built up in layers onto the leotard. After final fitting the dress is then decorated...wonderful and exciting.

LOL!

Seriously though, what a great thread for answering all those weird questions that might have crossed our minds over the years. We are lucky to have so many posters from the dancing world to share and explain all!

Don't the men also wear leotards too, or ensemble their shirt and pants like it was a leotard. Saw Brendan once with no trousers on and his shirt was sewn to his pants (so looked like he was wearing an all in one) then his black trousers went on top. So like gymnastic men that actually wear a leotard too under their shorts (or change if longer leggings).

WHen I was in ballet we always found it funny the boys wore leotards like we did under their over-leggings.

Yes, Miriam R..the latin shirts have shorts on the bottom ( so to speak) so it doesn't move about or come untucked with movement. The mens ballroom shirts these days are a stretchy fabric, that are made like a baby gro! Just step in and button up.

Yes I remember that, but Ann wore long bloomers, who can forget those enormous yellow ones she flashed.
It wasn't bloomers obviously, but she insisted on having her legs covered and wore Lycra leggings .

Is there a job for applying butt glue and smooth grove , and do I need special qualifications to apply?

I'll take "Lesser Known Works of James Herriot" for 200, Alex.

This thread has made me smirk a number of times. Thank you OP. A much needed injection of levity I feel.

Sounds like something a vet would do. :

Best of all - the thought of Brendan and James in giant baby gros. That would be a VT worth seeing.

I hope the male contestants are checked for enlarged prostates. Which one of the female pros to do the DRE then?
