They weren't exactly known for their vocal ability when they were contestants.

That's what I noticed. How embarrassing.

Can the word "charlatan" be applied to people that pretend to sing?

I know, this is where they made their name. It doesn't say much about their talent if they are not good enough to sing live.

Why do they all keep flopping forwards ..... Looks like someone is karate chopping them behind their knees.

Theyre also very stiff, no stage presence but maybe theyre so big that their presence on that stage is enough

Didn't they sing every week on the bloody show? You'd think the least they could do is sing now after they have had millions in vocal training probably since then.

They know they'll get stick for it, so why do it?

I'm not usually good at spotting whether someone is miming or not, but I thought it was terribly obvious this time.

Its weird hearing it as it sounds pretty much nothing like their real voices.

Did they not perform live on the X Factor USA?

Why the need to mime? Something to hide???

They 100% were not miming.

Were they? Oh, I didn't notice. The stage looked pretty, I didn't notice much else.

It was basically the same performance note by note. Probably a backing track?

Miming or not, that is a very good song. I would argue if it was sung by a contemporary indie band it would be getting rave reviews.

I saw the US performance and they were not miming.
It was pre-recorded though.

It doesn't make much sense to get the confort of a pre-recorded performance and still mime, does it?

They probably mimed the four lines of the song they actually sing together

Lol they 100% were.

1.There wasnt an imperfection throughout the song. Not even a breath. Now unless they are unbreathing aliens, something must be up.

2.The song literally sounded exactly like the produced record.

3.Notice how barely any of them open their mouths while singing. Now if you actually know how to sing, you'll know its impossible to sing some of those notes without it.

4.Their hands covered half their mouths at the top of the mic. Always a sure fire way of telling.

They could've plonked 5 garden gnomes on stage and they'd have had more presence than ID. Woeful.

I've seen both the USXF and UKXF performances. There are little vocal differences between them.

Has anyone watched a few of their acoustic performances? I did expecting them to suck as badly as on the show but I found they've gotten listenable vocally. The change started with Zayn finding a little soul last year. Deal with it.
