I don't think they were miming on the US one, it sounded rougher. I'm not sure they were miming on this one either but they definitely got some help from a ramped-up backing track.

For goodness sake, they were miming. When they weren't hiding their gobs with their mikes, it was clear they were totally out of time.

I don't think they are, You can hear Harry straining at times on the XFUSA performance - not a criticism. On the UK one, they performed the song note perfect.

Mmm then some of them weren't singing live. Louis and Niall definitely, it was the same vocal performance for them.

Even Britney Spears mimed on XF UK and she's the world's pop princess.

Nope. You are. I have seen them several times in concert. They can sing live. Yes Louis and Niall are not as strong as the other 3 but they can sing.

Noone is saying they cant sing live. FFS stop being so defensive of your little boy band. I repeat NO ONE has said they cannot sing live...just that they didn't sing live there. Its hardly a personal attack.

You dont need to defend them so much, you aren't going to ever marry one of them....

Then they were probably miming in the concerts you have follishly shelled out for. Money well spent indeed.

It was flawless, and as someone else said, they barely opened their mouths & covered their mouths with the mic and their hands. They were absolutely miming, which is fine - it is their right but why their fans cannot just own it is beyond me!

Mary J and Jessie J are experienced performers and their song was rough around the edges, there is no way on this earth that 1D are THAT good!

2.The song literally sounded exactly like the produced record.

3.Notice how barely any of them open their mouths while singing. Now if you actually know how to sing, you'll know its impossible to sing some of those notes without it.

4.Their hands covered half their mouths at the top of the mic. Always a sure fire way of telling.”

It really didn't sound like the studio track, honestly. Harry Styles in particular sounds nothing like the produced record. On both X Factor US and UK performances listen to when he starts the choruses, his "The story of my LIIIFEEEE" is different... almost American sounding.

They were def miming tonight. They weren't particularly good singers when they were in xf hence why they didn't win. You could tell the different tone in the mikes when Dermot passed his mike to Louis.

Agree! It wasn't even perfect tonight... And even less so on the US X Factor.
And the way Harry sings the chorus is quite different from the studio version.

But obviously the used a backing track, who doesn't? Their band wasn't even there...

My aren't you a lovely person with your tough guy language?

Seeing as I a a guy it might be a bit difficult to marry them.

You just carry on doing the oh so trendy thing of knocking a successful uk group you trendsetter you.

Not too bothered if they were miming but very surprised with their lack lustre performance. Rather than a band that have been performing for 3 years they looked like they'd only just met and Zayn looked like he was expecting a phone call at any moment.

Dismal and totally lacking in charisma and entertainment value.

If they were miming why did they sound so quiet and weak apart from the lad singing the chorus ?

I don't even like 1D. But don't think they were miming. They were really well rehearsed and I find that boring. Also totally robotic, lacking in charisma.

Agree. Usual suspects coming out of the woodwork. The boys don't need to mime. Anyone who has watched them in concert knows how good they are now.

I've heard it all now - "tough guy language"???!

Never heard of knocking successful groups being considered "trendy" - where've you plucked that one from. Knocking an untalented one is however an absolute delight.

They deffinitely weren't miming, if you have heard the track on the radio (or bought it), you can spot the differences.

But if it's not the miming, it's the performance that was lacking anyway, or the stage presence, or they look tired, or something else...
People usually get annoyed at their lack of staging and jumping around aimlessly, so reading now that it's lacking enthousiasm or over-rehearsed is a new one.

I suppose to each their own: I enjoyed their performance & hope that people who didn't liked the other performances tonight.

As I said .if they were miming surely they would have made so they all sounded great rather than just the main singer ( chorus).
