Very good series on a par with Father Brown. I expect it will be repeated early evening as was Father Brown.

I've really enjoyed it and will also look forward to a 2nd series. And yes - Craig is like Gary Barlow.
I really loved this programme, and will miss it now its finished, glad to read there is going to be a second series, hope the BBC will pick it up ... BIB I caught glimpses of Iain Glen personally..

Not on next week. I hope we get some sort of resolution about his missing family today.
When the second series comes around I think the business of his daughter will be settled in one of four ways

1)The girl in Shanghai will turn out not to be his daughter and Dr Blake comes back alone.

2)She isn't his daughter but is an orphan and Dr Blake decides to adopt her and bring her back to Australia

3)She is his daughter but she decides to stay in China

4)She is his daughter and returns to Australia with him

There was a little piece in the Mail's Weekend supplement which said that the second season will be shown on BBC1 later this year

Thanks for the heads-up, Verence.
I'll be keeping a watch out as I really enjoyed the first series.

It has also been renewed for a 3rd season, but with a reduced number of episodes down to 8 from the standard 10. It is rumoured this is due to the massive budget cuts that the Govt has given the ABC.

You'll still get series 1 on iPlayer/Catch up as it started from Monday this week. Each episode has a stand alone murder so you don't necessarily need to watch them in order. Does help to get your head round the main characters, but not essential.

Thanks. It's OK though because son didn't know what to get me for Xmas so that will be perfect.

I'm really pleased Dr Blake is back. As daytime dramas go, I find it more enjoyable than most of the other recent BBC efforts - WPC 56 and The Coroner, for example. I think I actually prefer it to the rather more melodramatic Aussie drama, A Place to Call Home.

Do you also watch Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries on Alibi??
I saw Essie Davis in a play in London years ago and when I saw she was in Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries I watched it because she was in it. Trouble is I've now become hooked and, as Alibi recently started showing them again from the first episode, I've been watching them all.

I wonder if the BBC will pick up on these at some point.

As strange as it seems Season 1 of Miss Fisher was shown on 5 USA a few months back

Speaking of Essie Davis she'll be appearing in the next season of Game Of Thrones

My telly mag says this is a new series on BBC1. But is it just new to them.? My wife says she thinks she's seen it before on one of the digital channels.
