The EP of Home and Away is so frustrating!!
Why is it that the EP of Home and Away seems to be so arrogant?
Ive seen so many people say they want the opening titles to return along with a couple of firm family units introduced with the element of fostering brought back to the show yet this certainly isn't the case... It seems to have died a slow death - the show isn't what it once was which is such a shame! There are too many individual characters that don't really fit in, they don't have any relation to each other........ The EP needs to listen to the public to be honest!!!! So annoying! |

It has been the same since Cameron Welsh - they really DON'T listen to viewers. Any complaint put them they will try and put a positive spin on it, rather than actually LISTEN.
This is why, despite all the bad things people said about her on here, I liked Lorraine Newman (The EP of EE). When people spoke to her about the character of Kat being ruined, she actually said "Yes, Kat has been ruined, but I'm going to try and fix her." The same question put to a H&A producer would get "Viewer feedback indicates fans are generally happy about this and we're excited about the direction of the character who has some explosive storylines coming up." Spin spin spin, PR PR PR, cliche phrases, not an ounce of actually listening. |

Lucy Addario and Louise Bowes are one of the worst producers ever. When was the last time Irene got a storyline??
They have cast too many new young characters and turned Home and Away into a teen show. They don't really understand the show well IMO. |

I hear it's still stuck in the dark ages in terms of minority groups.

I can't comment on recent sls, but the producer is obsessed with the Braxtons, how many more enemies or family members are going to appear, characters like Irene don't get sls only stuck in the cafe whereas the Braxtons are shoved down our throats (when I used to watch it)

Sad but true. it be nice to have maybe disabled person on there and a ethnic family and even a gay couple. Just to show it can adapt to change. its not likely to happen any time soon. Which is why i prefer Neighbours, ok so it has not change really either, but least they have made a start.

I was always a massive Home and Away fan but I can't bear to watch it anymore - Neighbours is way better and watchable...
If I miss a week or a month of episodes Neighbours is easy to slip back into whereas H&A isn't.... Its too gangster and teen orientated!! |

Having the Braxtons in virtually every s/l, made me switch off. They wonder why rating have dropped in recent years? Let some of the other cast shine and maybe you will get your viewers back.
Out of Home and Away and Neighbours, I thought Neighbours would be behind Home and Away, but they seem to be moving forward quicker. Long may it continue. ![]() |

Sadly they haven't dropped in Australia. And perhaps here lies the problem. They still get high 900,000's, sometimes over a million depending what else is on. Which is pretty good Aussie wise. That said Addario is terrible. I really hope the Braxtons leave en masse, because frankly she'll be screwed. She can't write anything else.
I like Kyle and although he has the Braxton name he's not really one though just read he's heading for a new triangle yay just what he needs. |

I liked the Braxton's when they first came into it, I thought they were quite good but now they have been done to death and have forgotten their Riverboy roots. I suppose that happens when you pair them off with women though.
It does miss the past families I feel both Irene and Leah have both been woefully underused, Summer Bay house is a shadow of it's former self with just Maddie living there and she isn't exactly exciting. Over the years that house has seen so many children pass through it's doors it's a shame just to waste it on Maddie. The Walkers were a good family unit but that has been broken up now with Sid gone. There were times in the past where the Beach house was bursting at the seams with waifs and strays that Irene had taken in (Selena, Chloe, Nick etc). They need to give Irene some more waifs and strays to look after and give her purpose again, maybe have some of her grandchildren come and stay with her. I also want Marilyn to join up with John and go and live with him and Jet, I think that would be a good family unit as well. And Duncan can come back and Alf's family can be rebuilt. |

Neighbours has made great strides especially having a regular LGBT character in Chris.

Well I am currently really enjoying home and away at the moment. I do agree with the OP that I do want some opening titles back, and also i want more storylines with irene and leah, and maybe give the braxtons a little step back (not majorly, just a small step back for the time being)
But as for home and away being unwatchable at the moment, well I have to disagree. I feel 2010 was a very poor year, i even switched off and missed half the season and just read the magazines to keep myself up to date. 2011 was an improvement, not much, but it was a lot better that the 2010 season. Last 3 months of 2011 was brilliant. 2012 was ok, not brilliant as I would skip the occasional boring episode, but once again its an improvement from 2010. This year has been a massive improvement. I watch the episodes at australian pace online, and the UK viewers have a lot of stuff coming up that I don't want to spoil, but trust me a lot is going on that will be happening over the next 2 - 3 months for UK viewers and a lot more characters are being used apart from the Braxtons. The only thing that has annoyed me about this year is how many bad situations casey has been in (being sent to prison twice, stabbed, car crash that blew up, he lost the use of his legs for a while, and lost his relationship to Tamera, became ill on the beach after drinking too much booze), I mean seriously, give the guy a break haha!! I am enjoying all the new characters so far too apart from the twins |

Still needs to sort out the other things i mentioned. Although they did have the Kappors and Doc's mum was in a wheelchair.
I liked Rhys and his Mum's relationship. |

I feel sure i read an interview Lucy gave this year at some point and she stated that Irene had a big storyline coming up but i have not seen this yet unless it is still to come? i think even Lynne Mcgregor who plays Irene said she had a big storyline coming up.
i could be wrong but anyone else remember hearing this? |

I don't watch the show but the interior scenes are shot in a studio in Redfern which is an Inner City suburb of Sydney...

I always thought that Home and away was mostly about foster families. I think some where along the way that element has been lost. They have tried to resurrect it with Roo and Harvey taking in maddie but it's still not the same as when Pippa was in it, taking in waifs and strays.
