Ringtone advice

Been asked by a friend of mine to make up ringtones of his song. However,I'm not sure what formats ringtones use these days.I know you can make them for iPhones via iTunes but am not sure what format android phones or Nokia/windows phones use for example. Are they all mp3 or is there another format they use?

Thanks in advance

the native format for android is ogg vorbis. it can use mp3 but i believe they tend to show up in the music player.

Most Android phones use MP3.

Most stock Android ringtones show up in the music player anyway.
