Giffgaff now sells 20 phones on credit

So as well as paying Giffgaff £15 or whatever a month for service, you also pay £50 - £200 up front, then set up monthly repayments for the handset + the APR of 9.70%.

I can't help thinking why you wouldn't just take out a contract and get customer support and the full package from somebody else! To me this seems like a step backwards, in the 1990's Vodafone used to sell you the airtime separately.

This...
The deals are not that good tbh

The LG G2, you pay £50 up front for the phone and then pay £30.46 a month whilst you can go on three and get the exact same deal only you pay £29 a month instead of £30.46 and you also get more minutes....

You have to take into account though that you are most likely to get better customer service with three etc....

I agree, giffgaff is somewhat overhyped.

Giffgaff to me is ok if you using for a specific purpose such as PAYG inbound calls only.

If it gets to the point you have the finances to buy a phone on credit, then one should go with a proper provider with full support.

And in 2012 their parent network, O2, started doing it as "something new".
