As much as we all love the best thing on Saturday night TV, there are some bugbears, as often "discussed" ( ranted about ) on this forum.

What are your top 3 gripes about Strictly?

Here are mine;
1. Inappropriate music for the dances
2.Too much emphasis on storytelling and showmanship.
3.Moronic audience participation - indiscriminate standing ovations, whooping & whistling, booing every negative ( and often constructive ) criticism given by judges.

2. Len
3. Darcey

Only 3 ?

1-inappropriate music for the dances; that's my biggest pet peeve about the show.

That's pretty much it lol.....

Inappropriate music

Props and faffing about instead of dancing

Only having 1 judge on the panel who has a Ballroom/Latin background

1 the "music"
2 the gushing compliments all the time/fakery
3 Brucie - time for you to retire, sunshine

1. - Stupid music choices

2. Stupid 'themes', that have nothing to do with the dance

3. Seriously CRAP pro dances - last Saturday's was surreally bad.

I've got more.

1. Bruce
2. Wrong music
3. Trying make us believe that the results show is on Sunday when we all know it is recorded on Saturday!

1. The terrible videos showing us what they've been doing this week - pointless time filling.
2. Bruce's faffing about and talking over the judges!!
3. The other judges telling Craig off for speaking his mind, just because they disagree with him.

Inappropriate music

Judges' criticism of choreography / music / theme foisted on couple by producers

Dumb VTs

1) inappropriate music
2) props!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! argh, just damn well dance and stop faffing
3) 10's being flung here, there and everywhere for dances that are NOT perfect - 10 is for perfection and nothing else!

I have more but those are my top 3

1. PROPS!

2. Inconsistent judging standards, one celeb gets absolutely slaughtered for the slightest of mistakes and the very next one is excused for the same mistake or it is completely ignored.

3. The booing. It drives me mad. I know it's just an act, but I honestly agree with Len when he gets cross with it! Why can't the audience just clap at the end of a dance and shut up the rest of the time?!

Inappropriate shoehorning of music, dance & theme.
Any curtailment of the Judges comments for whatever reason.
Orchestrated OTT audience reactions.

1. music
2. props
3. storytelling

They all became more important than learning a dance, mastering and polishing basic technique.

1. Inappropriate music choices (sensing a theme here)

2. Pros not sticking to the basic rules of each dance and doing crowd pleasing choreography instead

3. Inconsistent scoring by the judges, especially not penalising pros who don't stick to the basic rules of each dance and doing crowd pleasing choreography instead

Most of the other stuff I can live with.

Edit: PS Great thread OP.

Audience whooping 'n a hollering when the dancers do a lift during the guest spot

Len having the upper hand in the dance off:yawn:

Camera angles of the audience members when it should be on the dancers

- Judge's inconsistency. Week to week, celebrity to celebrity.

- The audience clapping pro dancers during the guest performances. Just seems rude to the guest.

- Talking/booing/clapping over the judges comments. I want to hear what they have to say even if it irritates me like hell. So zip it you yobs!

Audience clapping and or booing over the judges - apart from being very rude, it means I can't hear what's being said. If I want to listen to catcalling and whistling I'll visit my local town centre at chucking out time - I don't want to listen to it on my telly-box thank you very much.

Dizzying camera angles - I have to give my tea plenty of time to go down before watching Strictly otherwise I get seasick.

The pros being overly-influenced (ie told what to do) by the producers - you have them on the show because they are pros and should know what they are doing - leave them to get on with what they do best please.

In that case I'll add

The camera man running round the dancers (forget what we call him )! Swap him for another fixed camera instead that shows all of the couple dancing, not just from the hips up!

1. 'Comedy' VTs. They are without fail rubbish. I'd rather the time was given to actual news of what they did in training. I don't watch ITT so a brief recap of what went on in the week would be nice.

2. Music not suitable for the dances. Why? It's a dance show. The place must be packed to the rafters with dance/music experts. Do they just stick a pin in a list of songs? Is Alijaz being blackmailed by Florence and the Machine? It's baffling!

3. (ooooh, last one, I need to use it wisely ) I have few more to chose from but will go with noise the half wits in the audience make. I do not want to hear their out of time clapping, their booing or them shrieking like loons. I get they
are excited to be there. But I want to be able to enjoy the show too.

This sums it up for me although I might want to replace 3. with Brucey and his bad jokes.

2-How could I forget those daft Vts ?!!!?

Its especially annoying when some celebrities (like Ashley, Chelsee 2 years ago..... ) dont even have time to rehearse and have to cut their own very limited rehearsal time to do those " Funny vts "

3-I will agree with other FMs who mentioned imposing some themes to some couples.
