Inconsistent, hypocritical judges comments and scores..And the blatant favouritism

The noise from the audience during performances.

The fillers, a shorter programme without the VT's, Bruce's waffling etc would be much better

Three more:

1. Bruce talking over the judges (thanks for the reminder, Caramel Crunch)
2. Stupid irrelevant VTs
3. Judges giving their critique whilst looking down at their notes (yes you, Darcy! Craig does it a bit, too, but not so much)

TPTB must have someone trawling the net for feedback about the programme, surely. I live in hope that they find this thread.

Pro Dances
Tess calling Ola 'Oooola'
And Bruce, so worried he is going to die on the show.

1. Judges awarding '10's for dances that have obvious faults.
2. Len - he has lost credibility as a judge of ballroom.
3. Darcy

I respect Craig's opinion even when I don't agree with him and Bruno has comedic value but overall its the judges that I hate most.

Lack of Ballroom/Latin trained judges

Lack of strict tempo music and music that is not appropriate to the dance

Fillers such as Lens Lens - waste of time. Why not showcase some of the UK;s young talent that compete up and down the Country or Internationally each week,

1) Stupid music choices and daft themes forced on couples - Ola didn't want to do a cowboy paso, Iveta didn't want to spaceman paso or Blofeld rhuma - let the pros choose their own music and own costumes and themes

2) Bruce - it's not about you dude and you're getting worse - kindly take the hint and sod off.

3)audiience booing the judges - as Lynne Truss has stated what is wrong with telling someone they can't dance or what they need to do to improve their dancing - spare the crit, spoil the contestant

1: The ridiculous choice of music.
2: Standing Ovations and Bruce says "look, look, standing ovation"
3: Choice of costumes for certain dances, e.g. cowboy theme for a Pasodoble

Some of the things I dislike [though I believe that most of this is demanded by the producers}

Inappropriate music for the dances
Too much emphasis on storytelling and showmanship / Stupid 'themes', that have nothing to do with the dance
Moronic audience participation - indiscriminate standing ovations, whooping & whistling, booing / Orchestrated OTT audience reactions / Audience whooping 'n a hollering when the dancers do a lift during the guest spot
Props and faffing about instead of dancing
the gushing compliments all the time/fakery
The terrible videos showing us what they've been doing this week - pointless time filling / Dumb VTs
10's being flung here, there and everywhere for dances that are NOT perfect - 10 is for perfection and nothing else!
Len having the upper hand in the dance off
Camera angles of the audience members when it should be on the dancers / The spinning camerawork / Dizzying camera angles - I have to give my tea plenty of time to go down before watching Strictly otherwise I get seasick / 1) camera man cutting of dancers feet and the running around the dancer in the opposite direction
The (mostly) 3rd-rate 'Celebrity' guests on the Sunday show (we used to get proper bona-fide stars, now we get JLS and Il Divo for goodness sake)

Inconsistent judging standards, one celeb gets absolutely slaughtered for the slightest of mistakes and the very next one is excused for the same mistake or it is completely ignored.
Wembley as a venue. It's ghastly.

Overmarking and not giving a truthful criitque.

Wrong music and clothing for the dances.

I'd like to see two dances per progamme reintroduced, so we can make comparisions re correography,technique and musicality of the couples

Brilliant......I think I agree with every single point.

The only other criticism I have is the recruitment of contestants with vast amounts of previous dance experience. Although what constitutes vast will always be open to interpretation Denise Van Outen, Natalie Gumede are just two examples of over qualified celebs IMO.

I want one Latin and one ballroom per week and you do one or the other and the following week reverse. AT's should be saved until the semi finals.

But perhaps recruiting over-qualified Dastardly Ringahs just adds to the pantomime nature of SCD and generates comment in the press and here and joy across the land when the Dastardly Ringah gets her just desserts and comes third in the final. Always female Dastardly Ringahs of course - like witches and step-sisters.

Also the pros should choose the music, dance and theme given the celebrity's age, shape and size and temperament. Perhaps only alternating between Latin and Ballroom in the later stages. Let them dance in a style they are comfortable with to get going.

And leave the producers to concentrate on organising the ovulations and writing the judges scores and scripts.

Instead of a ratings topping 10.5 million viewers our brilliant changes will ensure a minimum of 20 million for a Saturday night taking Brucie back to his glory days of TPIS and TGG.

Used to be that's how Ola was like, Arlene Phillips gave rude comment about it.

Now it's Kristina and Ivata Occasionally Anya(only at the beginning)

I want Vincent's co-respondent shoes if he hasn't taking them to the jungle. I haven't been wearing dancing shoes but I suspect my "Black-tie" patent leather shoes would do the job. Smooth and soft and not hurt my followers (doesn't that sound strange?) feet doing "arrastres" / drags.

But frankly the producers are not in the slightest bit interested in any of the above. They will point to the trend in ratings and the trend in tackiness and say "Bring on the props and faffing". But would they go to the lengths taken by the Argentine version of SCD?

1. The pointlessly shallow VTs about the couples before they perform. This year seems to have hit a new low with 'comedy' 'hilarity' (:yawn::yawn::yawn::yawn::yawn. Instead, can we not learn something we didn't know about the celebs? Ben is a massive case in point - the man who set up a charity after his dad was murdered. And why are they using the VTs to airbrush certain contestants' achievements out of the picture? Natalie wins an award - and yet we see nothing of it.

2. Inappropriate music choices. Again!

3. The audience impersonating sea-lions and clapping dementedly, usually out of time. Why? WHY??? WHY?????

But we have no idea if the ratings would still be rising without all the jazz, inappropriate music choices and nutty marking from the panto judges and stupid booing and standing ovations from the panto audience whipped up by the panto producers. (Can I change my third dislike from the booing audience to the mark inflation of the judges - the undeserved rain of 10s in Blackpool made my blood boil in a way that the booing audience didn't although the later is still highly irritating)

The program that followed the disapointing SCD in post Blackpool lull namely the Dr Who 50th anniversary story - which despite being hyped to high heaven actually delivered to match up to it - proved that you don't have to stoop to the lowest common denominator to have a product which manages to both pull in massive audiences and satisfy them along with the critics.

Personally I've no objection to the props and theme weeks - there have been some great dances that feature both - (exhibit A - Scott Maslin's jive where a door prop was utlise to make the point that Erin was trying to with her misjudged puppet dance for Colin Jackson that the guy she had was talented enough to dance by himself, exhibiit B - Mr Maslin's VW, Louis Smith's tango, Kartem's tango de roxanne, and other examples of theme week dances that are made of awesome). I'd just set a time limit on the amount of faff at the start of each dance and make the judges dock points for going over that limit - Len is an arse but he does have a point about undue faff time - I'd also make the docking of points for illegal lifts mandatory too.
