You can pretty much guarantee any 'well known' brand of cat food is full of crap fillers.

I buy a 10kg bag of portia 21 from zoo plus for £30.

Here's the ingredients.

Ground chicken meat (64%), chicken meat (9.15%), chicken fat, dried potatoes, dried brewer's yeast, beet pulp (sugar removed), cellulose, MOS (mannan-oligosaccharides), FOS (fructo-oligosaccharide), dried cranberries, green tea extract.

The meat content is high so they eat less. A 10kg bag lasts me about 4+ months.

I home cook for my dogs would do the same I think if I had cats. The commercial foods never seem to have real ingredients in them to my mind. Much prefer human quality chicken etc for mine.

When we had our cats they weren't too fussy we used to home cook quite a bit back then as well, they loved any sort of fish we could get and chicken was popular too. I think they also knew if they didn't eat up quick the dogs would get there and eat it for them so a certain amount of competition kept them keen

Dog food is doing the same.
My dog has a sickly tummy and can't digest most dog food, we buy him a certain brand which has just recently went up from £18 to £22!
I'd love to be able to give my dog home made food but i just can't afford it at the moment.

Might be worth working out the cost, we find we can feed for the same price as the dried we would have them on if we didn't cook for them.

I feel my digs raw. Cost me around £25-£30 for two 25kg dogs.

Cats won't touch it. But I do make sure they have a grain free diet. Wet and dry.

Home cooking for cats especially is hard. You have to add Di many things. Turine levels are hard to get right. Cars are obligate carnivores. The more net mat the better but their needs are pretty complicated.

I did try to work it out but the 15kg bag of food i get for my dog lasts 2-3 months, so i can't see how home cooking could be cheaper than that.
Hopefully i will be able to switch to it in the future.

Yeah. Whiskas isn't he best.

Zoo plus do great deals on top foods. Bozita is 90+% meat.

If you have a home bargains or b&m near by they usually have feline fayre or hi life for about 20p a pouch. They're both around 60% meat.

Also check out animonda, almo nature, feringa, Grau, smilla and terra faelis on zoo plus.

Prices vary but there should be something for most budgets. If you're buy a Pets at home they often have 48 pouches of nature diet for £20 ish. That's 90% meat too.
