I think she did a great job. What do you all think of Katy's live performance at the American Music Awards?

She sounds terrible..not her best vocal performance (actually her good vocal performances are very rare.. )

I have seen Katy, Miley, Gaga, Rihanna and Ke$ha live and Katy is by far the best live.

Miley and Rihanna weren't great.

Ke$ha had so much energy, but Gaga seemed more concerned with what was happening with between songs, and not her singing, so it wasn't great.

I thought the idea of Katy's performance was good, but her vocals were very shaky, they were better than the EMAs though.

Gaga was back on form last night though, fantastic performance. I thought Miley and Rihanna's vocals were great last night too.

Ariana Grande and A Great Big World/Christina just blew everyone out of the waters with understated performances.

it was pretty awful to be honest and i say that as a fan. i have to give her credit for singing live, but she needs vocal lessons or more songs that are better suited to her voice to be completely frank. its a shame really, because she's got everything else going for her, but she does need to work harder on her vocals.

i agree with the above poster, ariana and a great big world/xtina were the surprise highlights with enjoyably simplistic performances.

I like the song but she has a lot of trouble singing it. It's a real shame I think, and something that as a musician really pisses me off. She's world famous making millions and can't sing in tune half the time! I know she's not the only one but really, it's just not good enough.

You have to be joking?

Katy has always been a studio artist, never a live one. How you can say she is better live than Gaga amazes me.

Her performance was good, I think I enjoyed the set/stage more than anything though, that whole style was perfect.

That is such a ridiculous statement. An artist should be able to sing the music that they are releasing live.

By no means did I say she was the best singer, but she was the the best overall. Gaga started shouted about "get a dick in my p***y monsters" .....I mean what? Seriously?

Katy's vocals have actually improved considerably over the last few years.

Awful.

She needs to stick with her halfway decent acoustic performances.

Exactly.

However she IS a studio artist. As much as it shouldn't be this way and an artist should be able to sing their own music live we just don't live in such a world.

Naming an artist a "Studio Artist" is just a poor excuse for someone to excuse an artist who cannot sing live.
