Following from the posts in the Changelog:

At 12:00, the Freeview EIT changed with regional labels on BBC ONE in the English Regions.

Sutton Coldfield has:
BBC ONE W Mid (home region)

plus data for:
BBC ONE E Mid
BBC ONE NWest
BBC ONE East W
(overlap areas)

The aim is to help viewers who can receive multiple versions of BBC ONE

What about your area?

Winter Hill is showing as "BBC One NWest" and also has entries for "BBC ONE W Mid" and "BBC ONE Yorks".

BBC ONE Lon - for London from Crystal Palace

How come this rename did not need a retune unlike for Pick TV to Pick?

Perhaps, this is in preparation for BBC ONE + 1? I would think it the timeshift service is a UK version one and for the hour of 2pm (up to 2:45), 7pm and 11pm (up to 11:35) it would join the BBC News Channel (showing live programming). Although it can be like itv +1 and show London regardless of the region.

With my box already having name editing functions. My BBC ONE NWest has been and will be the better looking BBC ONE N.W.

It depends on your equipment. I have receivers that variously:
Don't update the channel name or the EPG without a rescan
Update both without a rescan
Update the channel name and the EPG entry if you are tuned to the same multiplex but not if you aren't.

I don't think there was any difference between the Pick change and the BBC ONE change.

TAC now has BBC ONE East E (had to re-scan my Panasonic GT60). Sadly I have no kit that will show me the extra data for adjacent regions and I don't receive signals from any other regions usually.

Looks ugly but doesn't affect me. Possibly a precursor to BBC One HD being moved to LCN 1?

For those who get two or more English regions on their box or idTV, a boon, though.

Anyone else got a YouView box and not got the new HD channels? Red Button HD has been removed and BBC1 has changed to BBC One WestMid. It seems Com 7 is not switched on for YouView.

More likely you are not receiving COM7.

Sutton Coldfield older HD channels are broadcast at 200kiloWatts. Com7 from Sutton Coldfiled is broadcast at 81.3 kiloWatts. As your strength on the old HD is 45% there is a possibility that the signal is too weak.

Added to which, there have been no confirmed reports of COM7 having been fired up from Sutton Coldfield anyway.

Which might have a bearing on the matter.

Anyone using a Topfield 5800 (or, presumably, 5810) who wants to get the correct logo back into MyStuff can do so by renaming the channel back to "BBC ONE" and doing a restart.

See here for more detail (4.14 pm 26 Nov)

I have been checking for activity from Sutton but nothing yet but COM 7 is due to start on 10 Dec.

BBC ONE South here. The longer region names would look better if they used BBC 1 and not BBC ONE !!!

How many millions would that costs to rebrand the channel?

They already appear as e.g. "BBC 1 N West" "BBC 2 England" on the Sky EPG.

Yes...

name changes took place automatically. But I had to go to settings, Tv Signal & Quality and start a Re-tune channels to pick up the new Com7.

Indeed. The services a YouView box can receive over DTT are no different to that of a regular Freeview HD box.

Except streamed channels 225-238.

Trying to bring the thread back to BBC ONE English Regions, only if you're in the London, North West, E Yorks Lincs regions will you stand a chance of getting COM7 in England tonight.

What's the new region suffix for BBC ONE East Yorks and Lincs?

I can only hope that ITV follow suit - living in a triple overlap area is a nightmare for boxes that like to automatically tune!

Have the BBC said why they're doing this? Because it's far from clear to me what the purpose is.
