I don't understand this. You'll check it out because it sold loads of copies? How is that a valid way to listen to music?

Maybe because usually (not in this case ) good albums sell a lot so it worth to check them out?

So what if he will listen to it based on sales, I listened to it bwecause of one interesting mixed review. The album itself is not actually bad, the sound is definitely more grown up. However, i do have major issues with it that annoy, but I won't get into it.

Success doesn't necessary mean that someone is a good musician. As Oscar Wilde once said

“To be popular one must be a mediocrity.”

Have you heard their 3rd album? I don't think little girls will like it, it's very different sound from their first 2

I don't think their label cares too much. They are about to get their third number one album in US. The album is the money maker and I think I read somewhere that they make a loss on singles

I don't know. A lot of them will probably buy it just 'cause it's 1D. Like I said earlier and in previous threads, they are the only act in music I can think of right now who could release an album of themselves farting and still get No 1.

1D have started a 'Brit invasion' of America if you like, lots of British talent has gone out there and made it successful due to being British (not saying music in particular, but in other things too because of the 1D obsession), so in fact 1D being successful has helped other people make it (including content makers on YouTube, some of who were brought to the attention of their fans cos of them)”

I dont think 1D can take all the credit for the brit invasion. Leona, Amy and Adele and even Keane were all successful there long before 1D came along.

Wrong. Sorry but this isn't the case at all.

There must be a reason why its so successful so I want to see what the buzz is about. I probably would've checked it out eventually anyway.

You do realise that last week One Direction's first and second album were in the top 40 one and two years after their release and both are set to pass one million sales in the near future.

It was quite possible they may have three albums in the top 40on Sunday.

People bang on about how important it is to live in a democracy but things like this make me wonder whether the North Korean model is in fact the way forward. People clearly can't be trusted

Yeah, disagreeing on what to listen to & purchase clearly warrants becoming a dictature to make sure everyone agrees with you

1D did not start the current Brit invasion.

They'll do over a million worldwide this week alone (projected #1 on 550k-600k in the US). Third album and sales are at their highest ever in the midst of a market in continual decline. And now added to Radio 2 playlist which can only help. It's definitely going well for them and for a boyband to be growing on their third album is pretty good going.

I like their new songs, but pre-orders probably account for the lion's share of those sales.

Shouldn't 1D fans be busy completing their homework and "shipping" their idols? I thought DS was for (relative) grown-ups.

Their first week sales are so high it's inevitable. The 20th best selling album this year has only sold 230k.
