I like the drama they have successfully created in the past and some of the issues they have tackled.

But I can't stand the fact that everyone is related. I find it mind boggling. It's no wonder there's so much incest.

It's a bit like the Dingles - they certainly know how to keep it in the family.
To be honest not EVERYONE is related in the square - it's always been a family based drama though so when someone gets together with someone else both of them are usually in a family hence bringing two families together - it's not the producers fault. EE doesn't work well with stand alone characters which is why they've almost killed off Pats character by stripping her of her family and her good friend Laura. The same goes for Billy now IMHO.

I think it's funny the way everyones related! I was thinking of doing a family tree when I was bored for the whole of Walford but in the end I realised it was gonna be WAY too complicated!

...but it's a family based drama so when two people get together they usually bring two families together out of marriage as well - it's hardly the producers fault is it???

LOL I like the whole family aspect of EE which seems to have vanished a bit lately - the families they are putting on-screen don't have the magic of the older generation of EastEnders.

Someone who loves Corrie and hates EE always ends up coming onto these threads and says something like "All of EE is rubbish" then it turns into another Corrie v EE thing

What I don't like:

Crims & 'Bad 'uns' (Phil, Andy, Den, etc) - get the best houses, cars, girls, etc by beating people up & being nasty.

Honest Joes who try their best (Ian, Charlie, etc) - get nowhere in life & generally shat on by the 'Bad 'Uns'.

So, as an example to the 'yoof' of today, it implies that to work hard for a living is a mugs' game whereas being a right scallywag will get you all the goodies.

Signed,
Classic example of Honest Joe

Exactly, and I think that's one of the problems. Corrie does so well coz they keep lots of their characters, EE uses them for a story then they're gone, with exceptions of course. Everyone is young in EE, apart from Pauline, Nana, and a few others... I loved EE and am trying to get back into it, but much of the story lines are focused around the Slaters... too much.

Like: Dot and Jim Branning, Patrick and Yolande, Chrissie, The Millers, Danny.

Dislike: The Ferriaras, the gangster shit, the lack of realism, stable relationships being broken, The Slaters especially Kat and Stacey, fairground story, football story and the DIRE Shannis/Zonnis/ZonDen crap.

Seriously Ian Beale - Honest Joe, you sure mate?

Ian is a weasel; he's one of those men who thrive on other people’s misery and uses venerable people for his own gratification.

But he has tried to make his fortunes by running legitimate businesses, no trading of illegal substances, bumping folk off when they cross him, that sort of thing.

I am confused. At least 2 people have said they love the Millers and hate the football story. The football story was keef's finest hour !

Oh Fair City in Ireland are doing a Football storyline, but unlike Enders it only took up two scenes, not half the bloody episode lol
