This episode of Eastenders is so far beyond reality it's almost laughable.

If only. When Alfie was driving very dangerously on that motor bike I was thinking how wonderful it would be for him to crash and die and for Kat obliviously to fly off to Spain never to be seen again

That episode needs to win a razzie

I don't disagree it was ott but it was not terrible either not close. it was hugely entertaining and reveled in its soapiness. it was everything soap should be if even it didn't quite get it all right in the end.

let's face it we're now complaining that something actually happened in ee... after a year of nothing let's take a step back and hear how ridiculous that sounds ”

I have to disagree with you on this as I believe your logic is flawed. I specifically referred to infrequent posters (such as myself) being so disappointed by this evening's episode that they felt compelled to post about their disappointment. If, as you say, people just wanted to have a dig because they can see Eastenders is on the way up, surely those same people would have been whinging about Eastenders when things haven't been great and having their digs as well then. As such, they wouldn't be infrequent posters.

I've no objection to the initial wedding drama or Kat and Alfie reuniting. What I do object to is a scriptwriter insulting my intelligence on the scale of this evening's episode. The entertainment stopped when credulity was stretched to breaking point. We're a nation well versed in airport procedures and formalities. What percentage of scooter drivers would hand over their delivery vehicle to a complete stranger? The plot was full of holes regarding passports and cash.

I'm glad that Eastenders is improving and that stories are moving on. The execution of those stories does however need to be better thought out. Tonight's writing was simply not acceptable and risks Eastenders being ridiculed.

You're absolutely right. I have just watched it on iPlayer and am actually fuming that I have wasted 30 min of my life watching this s**t.

Apart from all the suspension of reality with this storyline perhaps the most ridiculous thing of all is that there is not, nor ever has been, any chemistry between Kat and Alfie - ever.

I need a poll at this point, for those of us still a bit apprehensive about New Eastenders: is it worth watching this episode? If that could happen daily, I'd be more than a bit grateful. I haven't seen any spoilers about last night's ep and only came on here to look at the Holby thread...the thread titles are a bit off-putting to say the least!

I really enjoyed it, I do love Kat and Alfie together, I know the passport and airport scenes were unrealistic but I just forgot all that and got into it ... a bit like a film loads of things in them are far fetched

Because the episode thread was full of off topic nonsense.

It should be renamed carry on Eastenders. The episode was laughable for all the wrong reasons.

I did enjoy Phil losing his temper and dragging Alfie back into the church though.

My mum's boyfriend was once arrested and questioned for two hours just because, in his tipsy state, he insisted on heading to the toilet when the plane was coming in to land.

Alfie runs around an airport shouting, knocking things over, barging into customers, being aggressive towards staff, approaches a plane preparing for take-off and hammers on the doors and windows before repeatedly ignoring the crew's requests for him to sit down. Once he's off the flight, the security staff just let him run off towards Kat!

Now that we've all ranted and raved about it being ludicrous, including btw, Bianca being allowed to drive a licenced Hackney Cab without a taxi brief putting her liberty at risk, who do you think will wake up on Thursday to find it was all a dream?

Exactly! and why did he have his passport? Did we see him go home first? err no.

Roxy said on Monday's episode, make sure you have your passport.

I have long thought that the writing could be bettered by a competent 12 year old, that the acting is poor and that the direction is amatuer at best but last nights episode took the biscuit. It's time to question the intergrity of the cast as well. Do they have no pride in their craft?

As an afterthought, maybe it was deliberate so the viewers will be fooled into thinking Danny Dyer is the new Ken Brannagh and will save the show single handedly.

In fact that's even more laughable that he had his passport with him for the airport when they were going back to the vic after? Hmmm yes, all in all, a pathetic episode

She wouldn't have got one being inside the number of times she has.

It was all a bit OTT but all the people saying they are 'fuming' is a bit much.

I think Lorraine Newman went "f*ck, this soap is going nowhere" so have us this ridiculous carry-on.

One thing that this episode made me realise was that LN has worked on relationships and family dynamics which will really benefit the show in the long run. Kat and Bianca is a really great friendship, which is the sort of thing the show has been lacking in recent years!
