I really feel like not enough people watch it, and that most people bin it off due to it being on at such an early time. A lot of people see it as being a 'filler' style soap, with no real substance like the other on-peak time soaps like ED,EE and Corrie.

For me Hollyoaks is the best soap which is always consistently good, and the storylines always overlap from one good one to another good one. I know a lot of the storylines are dramatic but to be honest i can't remember the last bad storyline. Ever since Dr Browning killed Lynsday (the irish one) the storylines have been good.

I love Hollyoaks, the best soap and I'd love it to win more awards and get the recognition that it deserves.

Completely agree with you both. It has been unmissable for well over a year now. I hope it does well at the 2014 soap awards.

I love Hollyoaks, but I'm a new enough viewer. I started watching at the end of Esther's bullying storyline, when she was in hospital, and it's honestly the one soap I don't ever miss nowadays.

Certainly not...theyre a kids/teens show in essence and are beaten daily by Doctors in the ratings.

When they get it right, Hollyoaks can be the best soap of all, but 98% of the time, it just embarrasses itself.

They do sometimes. At the 2007 (or it may have been 2008) soap awards they won six awards. Matt Littler (Max Cunningham) also won a National Television Award. I think they will do quite well in 2014.

I love it when they get their big storylines. The stunts are wicked; the bus crash, the explosion at the flats. I think they really make an effort and it's a shame most don't appreciate. I love the twists aswell. Loads of times I've been really surprised by things happening that I hadn't read about or seen spoilers for

The trouble with Hollyoaks is inconsistency: it is sometimes fantastic but on the other hand it can be abysmal. It is almost like there is a team A and B in writers and actors. That is why the ratings see saw so much because people tune in and out. Sometimes you really think you have wasted half an hour of your life!

Hollyoaks has gone beyond having any basis in reality. You have these massive plots and explosions, deaths etc and yet there is no aftermath.

Look at the amount of people who have died this year and yet nobody seems that bothered

The McQueens seem to have forgotten all about Myra, The Osbournes couldnt care less about Tom, Sinead brought a bomb into a house that killed people yet to look at her you wouldnt know this.

Holly's boyfriend was killed but again she is over it in a week. Esther and Tilly were almost killed but not a bother on them now.

Its all style over substance. Very few characters stay long term in the show and the characters personalities change on a whim to suit the storyline (Darren anybody).

Not at all. It is a plot-driven show and the actions from a lot of the characters don't make sense or relate to that certain character's development. If the writers want a gay character, they'll make someone gay, if they want a murderer, they'll make someone a murderer! Don't get me wrong, I watch occasionally and admire that they do a lot of story lines that the other soaps don't, but it isn't underrated.

The Hollyoaks audience is heavily split between C4 and E4, as it's the only UK soap which does a "first look" episode. It's unfair to look at the rating of C4 and ignore all those who watched a day earlier on E4.

I agree that it is very under rated. I think the reason for the lack of ratings is because CS, EE and ED are mainly aimed for adults as they understand the roots of the soap operas and what they're about. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure teens watch them too, including myself but I doubt many watch it consistently and would have a wide knowledge of they're
really about. That's why I think HO is a way of modernising the soap operas for teenagers and it has its own style which differs from the other three. I do think though that its unfair when people slag it off and put it below the other three without giving it a chance.

I do disagree with you when you say that they haven't had a bad storyline in a year and a half. They've definitely had a few bad ones but also some very good ones.

My god I hate when people say this when its never true

The McQueens have not 'forgotten' about Myra. They were grieving for months after her 'death'. Most people don't go on and on in public about someone who's died. My grandma didn't even want to cry at my grandads funeral. Does that mean she forgot all about him?

What are you on about with the Tom stuff. ALL the Osbornes have been going on about for the last few weeks is bloody Tom. Stop trying to find reasons to slate the show.

Holly's actions have been a bit off, I'll give you that one. But it might be a way of grievance for her as we saw when she was angered by Jason bringing Callum up. Plus, her and Callum were only ever a casual relationship.

Tilly and Esther have had less than 5 bloody minutes of screen time since they've returned which was during all of the stuff with Vincent and Phoebes marriage. They weren't exactly going to stop everything for a few minutes to have Tilly and Esther have a little moment

Do they even know it was sinead who brought the bomb to the flats? Either way, it was Clare and Trevor's fault so...
