Eastenders shouldn't have axed Kirsty Branning
I was starting to like the character. I think DTC was wrong to axe her. I agree with all the other axing's though. Who thinks the same?

Me. It's like they got really lazy with her character and just couldn't be bothered any more. But hopefully she'll go on to do really, really well and it'll be a big fingers up to him
she's in a drama on Sat on Channel 5.

It's not that they couldn't be bothered anymore, they weren't bothered from the start.
They brought Max back after a break in 2011, and thought "Oooh, let's give him a secret". Follows a year of nonsensical storylines/moments/references/contradictions resulting in a 'shock' reveal in 2012 of a secret wife. They threw it together on the fly and thought "Ooh, now maybe we can use this to lead to Jo Joyner leaving". Then they didn't know what to do with Kirsty afterwards, she wasn't brought in with any purpose or plan or as a distinctive character, she was written in simply as a plot device. She shouldn't have been introduced at all. |

As an actress i think Kierston is great but putting her with the Brannings was a terrible idea. She could have been a good sadie

I was just starting to like her as well. I hope this new producer knows what he's doing!

I really like Kirsty too and Kierston Wareing is a really good actress. I think her axing may have been down to logistics as the female 30 - 40 year old character bracket is quite cluttered at the minute with Janine (for now), Bianca, Kat, Roxy, Ronnie, Tina and soon Linda. There's only so many feisty females of a certain age that you can write for and the first five that I mentioned are long established characters while the last two are part of the new regime so in terms of hierarchy, Kirsty is at the bottom of the pecking order unfortunately. The lack of decent storylines in order to establish her character didn't help either.
