Just rang the number and it says something about " we'll get the unlock code to you" what if you have an iphone? There isn't any "unlock codes" for iPhones?

Has anyone from here who has an iphone on Three got their phone unlocked for free?
Isn't it done OTA for iPhones now? Or do you still have to plug it in to iTunes?

Apparently according to the site they will just send you a text message when the phone has been unlocked and then you can put a different sim in.

Pretty sure it OTA now has been for about 2 years I think don't quote me on the two years bit as not exactly sure on time.

Yeah OTA for software updates etc. We are talking about unlocking though.

I'll wait to see of anyone else successfully gets their phone unlocked by Three for free before I do it

Wow they quietly introduced this!

I've requested my iPhone 5S to be unlocked just for the sake of it. Have no plans to leave

Tip: it's a lot quicker/less complicated to do it over the phone. Don't worry it's automated so no need to call India

I did mine with Vodafone in October, and it still needed to be plugged into iTunes to finish the activation.

It's only software updates that are OTA (and obvious stuff like carrier updates)

Strange - I've helped 4 people unlock Vodafone iPhones in the last 12 months, and they all just needed to plug in different SIM, at which point the phone asked for the Apple ID email and password again - came up and said "unlocked!" and then you can swap SIM any time without even switching the phone off.

If your phone had iOS 4 then it would need iTunes, but after iOS 5 then it shouldn't. iOS 5 came out with the iPhone 4S.

I just unlocked my 4s last week with Orange and I didn't have to plug it into iTunes. I just got a text to say it was unlocked, put my 3 sim in it and it did the rest.

I was on iOS beta at the time, whether that had any difference I don't know, but I still had to plug into iTunes.

I wonder how long it is taking for iPhones to be unlocked normally there is a wait on those as Apple has to approve them.

Since IOS5 it will do it over the network all by itself. If it is connected to iTunes it CAN still do it that way.

I can't do mine, it's a Three phone but I bought it second hand, if your not the original owner they won't do it, as I just found out.

If I got the original owner on the phone then it can be done, but the person I got it from got it from eBay, so no chance of tracking the owner boo hoo!!

Don't intend on leaving anyway, just would have been good to get it unlocked
