why was Simon Calling Leanne by her actual name tonight? he has been calling her mum for about 3 years now and obviously considers her to be his mum now even if they are not biologically related. just an observation but did anyone else find it a bit weird and pointless?

Yes it's totally pathetic and embarrassing, as if they're trying to demote Leanne all of a sudden or something. The lack of consistency in the show is going to mean people will be sure to get bored and abandon it after several years. No more long term viewers.

I watched it periodically over the years but it's getting to be a dead duck again for me.

Perhaps it's a way of them emphasizing how distant the two are becoming? I really don't think it's a big deal but that's probably 'cause I watch HO

I find it surprising that he regards her as his mother at all. It's not as though she's raised him from birth. I found the whole thing with Leanne claiming custody unbelievable.

Really? I thought he called her mum when he asked her if he could stay over.

I know he occasionally refers to her as Leanne but thought that nine times out of ten he calls her Mum - a natural thing for someone who has known her as his Mum for many years of his life.

I really hate how they're pushing Leanne out to make way for bloody Tina

The Tina/Simon bond is too ridiculous, I can't even laugh at it. 'Forced' is an understatement

Did Simon call her Leanne tonight? I know Peter said something along the lines of: "You're having your tea at Leanne's this evening and she's making her special Leanne's Lasagne". I thought it odd that he would refer to Leanne by her name in front of Simon rather than say "your mum".

I couldn't believe Mary took the video of Simon getting bullied to Tina rather than Peter or Leanne. This whole storyline insults the intelligence of the viewer. The fact Leanne was pushed out of the bullying story to make way for Tina and bring her and Peter closer is unbelievable too.

and because of this we've not seen Leanne's reaction to the video because St Tina had to look motherly and caring in order to contrast Carla's apparent disinterest

Indeed! When you come across footage like that you go to the parents, not the random babysitter

As for the BIB, it doesn't ring true at all. After all Leanne's done re Simon, to not have her at the heart of this bullying story is just insane. Jane Danson isn't happy about it either. She subtly hinted at how bad it was to not have Leanne majorly feature in a Simon bullying story.

True.

http://shows.stv.tv/coronation-stree...-brain-damage/
“Simon is involved in what I suppose you’d associate with cyber bullying, that comes into play. [But] even though Leanne is Simon’s mum, I’m not heavily involved in that story, because Simon is being passed from pillar to post between Leanne and Peter given what’s happened to Nick, and he ends up with peter for a while.”

Jane added: “She does discover something is going on and that opens up a new storyline for the Barlows. I’m saddened Leanne isn’t a bigger part of it, because I think as Simon’s mum she would have been quite protective of him but that’s to facilitate another story that opens up and of course to highlight the issues of bullying, which no parent wants to see their child go through.”

I am disappointed that Leanne is pushed to the side and instead we focus on Peter flirting with Tina or Carla wittering on about her bloody wedding all the time.
