Amy being pretty is not an issue, it is just the way she goes about camp with an air about her that really bugs me.

There have been loads of pretty girls in camp, did Ashley Roberts last year sit around and sleep all day? No, she mucked it and her looks were the last thing on her mind.

Amy has really long hair, there is no way I would leave mine not tied up as it's a haven for bugs, yet she leaves it down for the camera, she knows what she is doing and i for one don't think she is coming across well or as a team player.

she's starting to annoy me the way she just lazes about, and I think I am turning into Terry Christian, a class hater if she says "gosh" one more time

I'm wondering if she feels/seems to feel a bit 'entitled', and if that's what annoys some of her campmates.

She is gorgeous but sleeping 14 hours a day in the best bed in camp and doing naff all to help around the camp would annoy the crap out of me. Lucy asked her really nicely the other day to help with the wood and she made out like she hadn't heard her, then said she would get some when the sun moved and came back with one log.

Bit of a generation gap perhaps. I think if IAC consisted entirely of people in their early 20's it would be a VERY different show, and washing up and log carrying would only ever be done when people had got fed up with eating out of their cupped hands and burning their bedclothes to keep warm. Amy's speech about only getting 3 hours sleep normally because she has to catch up with her emails was not well done, but I think she felt defensive and awkward being questioned by someone older than her father and talked a lot of embarrassed rubbish.

Being a young pretty lazy girl is unforgivable to most female viewers. However, being a lazy bloke of any age appears to be quite acceptable ...

I don't think she is as lazy as they make out, Annabel's mistake last night kinda of revealed that. Also she doesn't always have her hair done, sometimes she has it braided.

You've just provided me with an image of my son and his mates if they were in the jungle. They'd expect Ant and Dec to clean up after them and order them in pizza and booze

I don't think so at all, when I was 21 I could sleep all day, I used to be tired all the time and I know most of my mates were the same.
I think people are being hard on her and forget that she is so young as she looks a lot older.

I don't think she looks 'a lot older' than 21 at all!

perhaps after a wild night on the vodka red bulls, but what 21 year old needs 14 hours sleep after a bit of possom and cup of Horlicks with Mo?

Terry Cristian borrowing Pitmans computer

From the show I see most of them laze about doing nothing.
If you do work begrudgingly, you should stop doing it. I've known many who have taken on extra just so they have something to complain about.

I wonder if that is Lucy's real issue with Amy- how youthful she appears? I have never championed either woman however, I don't think that Lucy is doing herself any favours sniping about Amy's career choices etc in the jungle. Lucy has always appeared very likeable on other programmes yet in the jungle, she seems very jaded- as if Amy is a reminder of something she once had. I have never heard of Amy before this, so have no prior experience of her. I was impressed when she stood up to Annabel tho.

Lounging in a hammock all day didn't do Dougie any harm.

Also I find it a little annoying that there's the expectation that the women do a lot of the "chores". Excluding Kian and Matthew, have we seen any of the other guys do anything much? In fairness Amy is probably the one being paid the least to appear, so if work ethic is based on pay, then she's doing about the right amount.

If Amy is being pretty is not an issue, why are you comparing her to Ashley Roberts?

How did "she knows what she is doing" (it's almost always a "she") come to mean "she knows she's doing this objectionable thing that I think she's doing"?

And come come it's most often said about young, good looking women?

Why you think hair is less a haven for bugs when it's tied up, and it's harder to get them out, is not clear. But at least it's a change from the usual complaint that the pretty girl is flicking her hair. (It would be best, of course, if they cut it off and dressed like a nun.)

10 "you'll be replacing google" points to anyone who can find a past complaint that a celeb in IAC who isn't a good looking woman left their hair down rather than tying it up.

There must be something in it when they have practically all commented, we only see a very tiny part of 24 hrs so have really NO idea of the reality!!

Why does it have to be about her looks.

I think she's very beautiful. I also thought that she came across as very sweet at the start.
I think that is where the problem lies. She's was very 'sweet' but then there is nothing behind it.

Some of the campmates feel hard done by because this seemingly 'sweet' girl doesn't then pull her weight. Therefore she's not really that 'sweet' at all. But manipulative and lazy.

No one likes to be 'fooled' which is what she has done. To think someone is sweet and lovely and then find out that you were wrong gets peoples backs up.

The perfect example was when she didn't hear when Lucy asked for help with the logs. Now I don't know if she heard or not as I wasn't there. Maybe she didn't hear her.

However its how she behaved afterwards which would have annoyed me. If she really didn't hear why didn't she jump up to help then and do her bit.

No she lay back and then did it in her time only coming back with 2 logs. Selfish springs to mind.

I also want to add the show iacgmoohn going on about her being jealous are making cheap easy shots for television. very sad.

I'd like to see some specifics to go with that "they have practically all commented." This is the first time I've seen it claimed to be so many.

But in any case, I've seen to many reality shows to think that if a bunch of contestants are commenting, then there must be something to it. As I mentioned in another thread, with all of them in there with each other 24/7, and isolated from the wider world, it can be easy for them to pick up ideas from each other rather than being properly independent sources.

don't know, I certainly wouldn't think it if she didn't go deaf whenever someone asked her to wash-up, I thought she was listening to her ipod last night

Wow . A bit of a generalisation there .
I worked on many wards with young nurses in their early 20's who were very capable of not only managing their own lives but very capable of nursing and managing a large ward of sick people .
I am sure its not just nurses in their early 20's who are not lazy and well able to rear a family and be an adult .
