Not trolling exactly but pointing out that some Asian cultures (and others) see bringing shame on the family as a worse crime than murder. So you get the case of Shafilea Ahmed where parents murder their daughter to preserve the family 'honour'.
There seems to be a tendency here to see paedophiles as having broken a worse taboo than murder. That isn't generally so. For me, killing another human is the worst act, admittedly there may be mitigating circumstances but family honour isn't one.

Its a shame they have to do this really. I am reminded of how many Soviet spies were working for the FBI and the CIA (and of course American agents in the KGB etc), if the very elite of the information gathering agencies cannot work out their own workers are actually the enemy, what do some untrained rock musicians have that would give them a better insight.

Plus many bands can be on friendly terms but not socialise much with each other outside of the work. In fact, famously many bands have had strained relationships internally, some for years without anyone catching on publicly.

They would certainly have been aware of the many rumours about him, but I suspect they were laughed off.

Last Train Home always reminded me of travelling up to see an ex in Bradford, good memories, but I am not sure I would be able to listen to the song again and feel the same way. I will probably confine my lostprophets cds to the 'never play again' pile.

If every band took every rumour about them seriously they would go mad.

If they say they didn't know what was happening, then that has to be taken as fact as far as I'm concerned unless it is proven otherwise.

I have three Lostprophets albums and although I haven't got rid of them I don't know if I will listen to them again. I think I would feel guilty for listening to them

I had to comment on this thread as I was asking myself the same question the other day. Personally I feel sad for the rest of the band. I don't see why they should be shunned and have their work ignored because of one wicked scumbag in their midst.
One solution could be him giving up his song rights to the rest of the band so that they can still profit?

I wouldn't stop listening to a performer if they've been convicted of a crime (depends on who it is though).
For example, I still listen to Chris Brown regularly despite what he did to Rihanna.

I think I might have answered something about the Chris Brown comparison somewhere else, and its harder for me to compare the two because I don't listen to Chris Brown's music anyway - but if, say, I see him in a magazine I can't help my brain thinking "douchebag". I find it very, very hard to see the mugshot of Ian the papers have used... he looks like a different person.

There were about 20 Lostprophets songs on my iTunes prior to Ian's arrest, and then I took them off straight away. I still feel as though I'd like to listen to them because (to me) they're really good songs and a few hold some very special memories for me, but I haven't been able to bring myself to do that yet. I think one of the bigger barriers is Ian being the singer - I don't think I could listen to his voice and think of anything else but what he's done

I think the point is there's crimes, and then there's crimes. To the best of my knowledge the crimes Watkins committed are right up with the worst ever committed by a musician.

To compare what he has done to what Brown did is ludicrous.
