Hold on a minute, when did Phil ever give a toss about Roxy/Ronnie in the past? |

Leaving aside the fact the writers would obviously like us to forget about - that Phil ripped Roxy off - Phil has always given the impression that the two of them just irritate him. I've seen him give Billy more warmth. As Jack in his dismal last episode rightly said 'You never went to see Ronnie in prison' - or indeed mention her. In fact if I remember rightly, he wasn't even in the court scenes when she was sent down. He got right in her face once too with the hilarious 'Who do you think you are???' Rant.
As for Roxy, he made her manager of the Vic sure - probably just to pee Kat off - but he also couldn't stomach living with her, making her feel as unwanted as a fungus, seemingly ignoring the fact that the pair of them helped him get off the crack. And now he's been the night in shining armour to both of them. At the very least, it's odd. |

Family has always been important to Phil. I guess he don't like anyone hurting his family. The Mitchell's have always been like that.
And as for him not going to see Ronnie in prison, none of them did, i think she did not want people to visit her. Not sure what jack was on about, its not like he went. Phil don't go and see Ben anymore don't mean he has stooped caring. Phi has always shown he looks out for Roxy, ok so he ripped her off, he still shown he is always there for her and Ronnie. |

It's all about faaaamily, unless you are stealing your cousins millions, then the Mitchell family moto goes out the window. I think he prefers Ronnie.

Because Phil's allowed to treat his family like dirt, but no one else is allowed to, as he takes it personally if they do.

Plus I think there is an element of pride as well as affection. You make a fool out of Roxy, you make a fool out of the whole family and Phil will not have anybody laughing at him. |

I was just thinking to myself about family and families in general, and how dysfunctional many of them are. Plus the fact that true life is often stranger than fiction.
Thinking about it in that kind of context I guess anything that happens with the Mitchells and family is never that much out of the ordinary. Whatever the ordinary is? And how one goes about trying to measure such a thing! |

Phil only stole £15,000 from Roxy she managed to blow £2 million all by herself. Anyone so stupid they're able to spend £2 million and have nothing to show for it deserves to be robbed. That's probably how Phil views it and is able to sleep at night.

I think that since Peggy has left he has become more responsible. Let's face it, she was a control freak where her family was concerned. Now he is the oldest Mitchell living on the square and has become more caring and paternal.

I don't remember him giving any money back. As far as i'm aware roxy still doesn't know even though Glenda tried to tell her.
Re the 2 million, it was never made clear if that was cash or the estate. If it included the house in Weymouth and the Vic then there might not have been that much in ready money available. Plus you can tell where a lot of it went. She paid for the R+3 refurb after Ronnie's insurance scam went wrong which will have been a lot, she paid for all of Jack,s post shooting therapy which i'm sure they said was about 20k a week, she gave Danny a lump sum. She was too generous rather than just stupid. Unless you consider them the same thing. |

Billy is actually older than Phil but Phil considers himself to be the head of the family.

Phil got Masood to put the money back in her house in order to set up Glenda. Roxy believed her mother had stolen it and threw her out (which is what Phil wanted).

I am actually liking how Phil is becoming a protective big brother to Ronnie and Roxy! It would be so good to see Grant and Sam interact with them too. Maybe Ross Kemp could return for a one off or something, and I hope Danniella Weatbrook returns! I know people didn't like her but I liked and she was brilliant as Trudy in Hollyoaks.
