Just bought one of these and managed to connect it up myself without much trouble. Only thing is it won't work when just using HDMI cable, I have to use scart lead as well. It says in booklet that you shouldn't need to use scart just the HDMI. Can anyone tell me if I have done something wrong? As I have just got rid of my old DVD Recorder, I will now have to buy a DVD Player, but there is only one scart socket on back of TV, which I have had to use for the Humax PVR. How will I be able to connect both? Any advice would be appreciated.

In what way is it not working?
There is no need to use the SCART lead if it is all set up correctly. However unlike SCART it is possible that the TV will not automatically switch to the HDMI input when you turn on the Humax. Something it will do with the SCART connection, you most likely have to manually switch the TV to the appropriate HDMI input.
Also check what options are available for the HDMI video mode. Try a different one to what is currently selected to see if that makes any difference. Assuming it is pictures you are not getting.
If it is sound that is missing change the Audio settings to LPCM or PCM or Stereo depending on how it describes it. Avoid Multichannel or Dolby Digital as the TV might not like those formats.
But if you could describe in more detail exactly what is happening and what you are doing that would help narrow down the cause.

Without the scart, it just comes up on screen No signal.
I haven't really had a good look through the manual yet, as you say, there is probably a way to switch TV to HDMI input, never thought of that. Will see what I can find! Thanks
HDMI does have a control signalling system, if the bits of kit either end of the lead support it (and more importantly understand each other's interpretation of the protocol!). But it could well be turned off or not functioning on your set-up.
Look on the TV remote for a button labelled INPUT, SOURCE or AV (those are the common variants) That will either pop up a list of available input sources or toggle through them one by one as you repeatedly press the button, (or do both as on my telly!

Will try what you say, I think I just haven't taken my time and thought things through. I was just so happy that I got it up and running without any problems
Oh and while you are hunting through the input options on the telly, unplug the SCART lead! Just to avoid any confusion it might cause.

Just to let you know I did what you suggested, have now got it working without having to use scart lead. It was annoying me as I knew if I could only get picture through a scart then I wouldn't be able to get any channels in HD. Thanks again
