Using Smart TV with FreeSat +
Hi we have just moved house and for the first time ever had to use satellite TV due to the lack of a decent signal for FreeView. We have a Panasonic Viera Smart TV and we bought a Humax Freesat Box so we could use the dish already at the house. Since plugging the Wireless receiver into the TV we keep getting the set up message for the Wireless LAN adapter connection Detected.
My first question is when it asks the connection type,it asks to select network connection type which one do I choose. WPS push button WPS pin Search for Access point Manual And my second question is will the free sat box still work or will using this stop it working.. Sorry if I sound ignorant but I don't have a clue about Satellite TV what so ever and have only ever used Free View..

My first question is when it asks the connection type,it asks to select network connection type which one do I choose. WPS push button WPS pin Search for Access point Manual If the router has changed but the adapter was used before then it will be trying to find the old router. So you simply do whatever you did previously to set it up. If it is a new adapter then it would help to know the make and model, also the exact model of your TV and what router you are using. If the router supports WPS push button then that would be the obvious choice as the adapter and router should talk to each other and set themselves up without you needing to get involved. WPS PIN is a little bit more involved as you have to enter a PIN number, but the other stuff involved in setting up WiFi is more or less automatic. The other options would involve knowledge of the WiFi SSID name it identifies itself with and the security password. Often both those details can be found on a label or card attached to the router. It doesn't really care what the TV gets up to when it's not being used for that. |

The wireless adapter is a Panasonic wireless adapter that you plug into the bag of the TV the TV is a Panasonic Panasonic Viera Smart TV. The router is a new BT Router and it does not support push button. It is password protected so do I choose WPS Pin and enter the password?

Forget about that (also - you should diable WPS on your router if you can, as its security is compromised.) Use the auto option. It should find all the available wireless stations that are connectable in your vicinity. Select yours (you'll need to know the name it broadcasts with, obviously) and enter the password for it and it'll connect. |

As I have found that wireless can be at different speeds depending on the device it is to be picked or sent I find using network cables better for all my TV boxes and TV's
I use network cables between two virgin TiVo boxes and from my 2 ISP's Hubs to my humax freeview HD PVR box, to Humax Freesat HD PVR box, HD TV ( Freeview & Freesat ) Smart TV and my BT youview box. I also use Network cable for all my PC's Laptop's Tablets.. I do use wireless but as I do not move my TV & Boxes around it just easy to link HUBs & TV / Box with a wire as does not need codes... I would if you had the TV in another home or place set it to factory reset to put all settings back to new and relink the Internet but you will need to have hub codes to link it wireless and make sure that the wireless signal does not drop below 2MBs for SD... |
