I'd recommend Metallica - S & M and the Eagles - Hell Freezes Over. Both excellent IMHO.

A Question to as ya's if I could: (as you's were on the topic of CD's)

Bands release singles called EP's now I know an EP is a sample of what's to come from their next album I would like to ask as I have been quibbing over it for a while.
What does E.P. stand for?

Metallica S& M (great 2 cds of pure metal)
The Eagles Hell Freezes Over
Pearl Jam Live in Holland
Def Leppard Live Around The World
Bon Jovi One Wild Night Live
Alanis Morisette MTV Unplugged
Madonna The Drowned Tour 2001

Sorry for raking up an old thread, but I noticed the topic and had to add my 2p

Just arrived today from the states:
Metallica, Live Sh*t: Binge and Purge (official site)
3 CDs (one concert) and 2 DVDs (2 Concerts).

One on the DVD concerts is before the Black Album, one after. Total concerts running time: 540mins + the CDs

I would also highly recommend the S&M CDs and DVDs as well as the Cunning Stunts DVDs.

hehe. In the U2 community right now were trying to get the band to release the entire Slane 2 show on DVD, since video/dvd releases are what the band uses to document their tours..

as regards to my favorite official live albums, micksea241 hit the nail right on the head as far as im concerned, and id like to highlight Queen's Live Killers and the Eagles Hell Freezes Over (especially, especially, on DVD.. amazing) above all... And Neken, Ive got Live S**t, a great example of Metallica giving the fans what they want..

Ive heard that The Who, Live At Leeds is awesome..

Nirvana - From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah is a pretty good document of a great live band, incredibly raw and energetic. Also of course Nirvana - Unplugged is just beautiful, simple as that. Also Hendrix Live at Woodstock or Hendrix: Band of Gypsy's live at the Fillmore East are both mind numbing, and Led Zeppelin - The Song Remains the Same is equally breathtaking. Finally, I find Pearl Jam live CDs a joy to listen to, and of course they have a seemingly endless supply of live CDs what with their official 'bootleg' releases of every concert from their 2000 tour!!

Bit of a Paul Weller freak so would have to reccomend anything by him.

Lokk for ones recorded in the Royal Albert Hall. Always have the best sound.

I would have to say...

Pearl Jam, live at Wembley Arena, 30/05/00... If you listen VERY carefully you can hear me shouting in the audience!
Alice In Chains - MTV Unplugged
Counting Crows - Across The Wire - Live In New York
Metallica S&M is amazing!
The Bridge School Concerts is also pretty good, with Live takes from Neil Young, Pearl Jam, Tom Petty, Simon & Garfunkel, Tracy Chapman, The Prentenders and more...
