Channel 5 from Waltham, which officially launched several months after Channel 5 had itself launched, showed regular programmes during the testing period, with a caption replacing the ad-breaks. Apparently, it couldn't show the adverts during the testing period.
If the same still applies today, then picture tests, but no adverts should be allowed.

This morning it's not there, I'll keep my eye on it.

Just checked and I am seeing an RF carrier from CP on 537.833MHz. No digital SI at all, not even null packets.

Seems something must have been transmitted from CP earlier today as my Sony TV has added channels 791 & 792 "Local TV Test1/2", currently both report No Signal however.

Well, after a rescan here (from Sutton Coldfield), they are showing up here.

Yes, but I presume the question was about Crystal Palace. I'd be interested to see whether I can receive the local Mux down here; I'm not supposed to be able to but you never know, so I'll keep an eye out here to see when it is broadcasting.

It more than likely was, which is why I added the specific reference to SC.

Until the poster does a rescan, he/she will be none the wiser. Nowt to lose by trying though.

I don't think I will pick it up channel 28 is coming in at 60% fare on my Sony 870 and that will be much less power.
Hopefully London will be on satellite later.

Is that a type of shield behind the antenna to stop signals going S/SE?

The URL is correct - but you can't go direct to it from another site.

From that link, simply go to the list of transmission site Alphabetical list drop down, select Crystal Palace and scroll down to the link with the local TV aerial installations.

Strange, it worked perfectly well when I clicked on it earlier.

Yes, got it, good signal and audio and video on 791 and 792, despite being way outside the service area. It is detected as zero quality but fairly good strength by my SD receiver, but the HD receiver on the same aerial feed does not see it at all. There is obviously something odd about it, because sometimes it is receiving the picture and sound perfectly but at the same time displaying "No signal" with a countdown timer!
