That's one spin on it. Others would say people use more data BECAUSE they now have a device that makes watching video and browsing a more plausible and pleasant experience.

They also use 4.5 inches as the cut-off - most flagship phones for the last few years have been larger than that.

People who buy top end phones are probably going to use it more, partly because they're heavier users by their nature and partly because top end phones are capable of doing more - irrespective of screen size.

Then there's 4G coming as standard on most >4.5" phones

Incidentally the average user using 340MB a month is surprisingly low. I recently read 4G users average 1.5GB a month, and also an implication that was "double" what non-4G users did. [Edit] Looks similar to the US figures in that article.

Personally I use 10GB but only because I got 9GB of that for £5.

I have. One's called a television and the other one's a desktop computer. I also have a laptop but it's nowhere near as good as the desktop.

Customers who do not know what they are doing and those caught out by the Talkmobile type lair get the bigger bills.

And quite obviously, heavy data users choose bigger phones.
