What does your Spotify profile say you've been listening to?

If you've got Spotify on your PC or laptop, and you go to your own profile page, it says "I've been listening to:" and gives a list of artists...

Mine says: "I've been listening to: Mantovani & His Orchestra, Del Shannon, Imogen Rae, Status Quo, Chas & Dave , Duran Duran".

I must be one seriously mixed up individual! The Chas & Dave one is random, they've been on tv and radio a lot lately, and I heard radio play a song of theirs 'Ain't Know Pleasin' You' which I hadn't heard before, I thought it was nice and listened on Spotify. Status Quo, I listened to Marguerita Time, it reminds me of a Christmas when I was little. Mantovani relaxes me and helps me sleep.

Now all of Facebook knows I've been listening to such uncool artists! Anyone care to post theirs? (And be truthful - don't just put cool people, I've held mine up to ridicule! )

I've been listening to: Arcade Fire, Lights & Motion.

That's it. I don't really use Spotify much tbh. (and I don't have it linked to thinks like Facebook!)

I didn't give me a choice when I registered!

I love it on my phone, though... I get unlimited internet so I find it dead convenient to just pick random albums to listen to right through on the phone connected to speakers or with earphones.

Unfortunately I don't have unlimited internet on my current phone contract otherwise I would probably use Spotify for playing music on my phone. It's something I'll need to look in to though as it makes a lot of sense, I already play music on my phone all the time...

If you plan ahead a bit, you can use it without internet connection. I add all sorts to my Spotify when at home on wifi, either reading on the internet and finding new albums to try. I make playlists at home, then use the wifi to download them to my phone and can then listen to them when out and about.

Obviously this doesn't work if you don't have a wifi connection, not sure how easy it would be to do it all in a public wifi place.

Mine basically says a lot of The 1975. Which is right, that's what I mostly listen to. And Arctic Monkeys they got right too. However it also says Arcade Fire and Avicii which I don't listen to at all. I hate Avicii.

You only have to click on one of their songs, and it emblazons your love for the band on Facebook and at the top of your profile for all to see!

I only ever listened to one Chas and Dave song!

I also listened to the best of 10cc no more than a couple of times, but Spotify now tells me... "You've been listening to a lot of Cry by Godley and Creme lately, play now?"

It sounds like some sort of psychiatrist treating me for depression!

Mine is currently saying: Museum of Bellas Artes, Smith Westerns, Summer Camp, Duran Duran, Wild Nothing and Pet Shop Boys. Which I can't argue with as I know they are amongst my most played artists recently.

Which is exactly why I switched off that feature of Spotify. It doesn't accurately reflect what you listen to.

If folk want to see what I listen to, then check out my playlists

Thank you for that, I didn't realise you could switch this feature off.

I just found it under Preferences on the Edit menu. Now I can listen to Mantovani and his Orchestra in peace.

Glad you found it...it always bugged the hell out of me until someone told me you could switch it off!

I presume you also saw that you can make playlists private or public too? That way you can listen to all the cheese you want without others knowing *hahaha*

lol, tbf, some of my playlists are pretty good. I tend to make playlists of hits of a particular few months, for example, my splendid Summer of 86 playlist...

I do like the share playlist function on SPOTIFY...it's a great way for me to find out new music via friends

Thank you!

I was 9, I'd been bought a cheap transistor radio for my birthday in April, which I listened to non-stop whenever I wasn't in school, (and sometimes in school, lol) and these were the songs that were being played... so this playlist is like a little time machine that takes me back to Mexico World Cup, the friends I had in primary school, etc etc.

I make other ones based on particular periods of time I like to remember, and they're like self-compiled Now albums with no tracks that I don't like.

Haha.

Mine says I've been listening to Lady Gaga, Celine Dion, Robyn, Agnetha Faltskog and P!nk.

I can't remember the last time I actually heard a Celine song through my Spotify, even though they are there somewhere, so that's a bit odd. Same with P!nk actually. Also, I only have one Agnetha song so that's a bit of a misrepresentation!

I'll give it Gaga though. She's never off.

I've been listening to Lady GaGa, Metronomy, MS MR, WEKEED, Deee-lite and Talking Heads.

Seems about right!
