Youview and smartTV

I have a BT youview box connected through a CRT trinitron at the moment and have decided it'e time to splash out on a new tv.

Am I right in thinking that as the BT box is smart there is no point in spending on a smart tv?

Correct - assuming you can find a non-SMART TV?.

Generally you're not really paying anything extra though, and a non-SMART set is likely to be just a cheaper and poorer performing set.

Fair point Nigel. Don't really like binning the CRT as nothing wrong with it. But tech moves on.

sign of tight times i guess, but after clearing the loft and going to the recycling centre i felt guilty for chucking away 2 ancient dvd players + even a 1997 video recorder.

I suspect you're being rather naive about what most recycling consists of

They only need to break out all the circuit boards as a first crude step and bin them up to send to the specialists.
