Some more specs - (confirmed from Humax tech support) for you to add to your DTT webpage.

* The VCR scart supported CVBS, RGB and S-Video (So thats RGB pass-throu)

* It is not possible to record from an external source to the internal
HDD (I never for a moment this would be true, but thought I'd ask anyway)

* Chase play feature is included along with resuming the last viewed
position.

Thanks. That type of simple useful link beats a dozen of the 'if only/does it?' type posts any day.
I want one and I want one now! But ... does it? Damn!

After trawling through the many posts esp this one, I plumped for the Fusion 200 from Tribal at £166.33 inc delivery. Yes it has some of the problems discussed elswhere but it beats the pants of a VCR and a bog standard Freeview box.

just got new FVRT100 and want to know if it is possible to set "repeat" recording on this device - can't see it in the manual. Would be nice to set Monday to Friday but will settle for weekly/daily.

Thanks.

John,

Nope no repeat records on a 100 - you'd need to have got a 200 for that.

Hi Emsee

The PVR-9200 manual and tech spec is now available online at http://www.humaxdigital.com/uk/products/pvr-9200t.asp, maybe you can add that information to your table

Tribal don't deliver to all parts of the UK, ie, Northern Ireland.

I HATE companies that don't post to NI.

Ebay it is...

I don't know why, but there have been no posts from emsee for well over a month. He might just be on a long (very) holiday!!?? It is a shame if he is not going to update his page, as it is very useful. I hope he is back soon!

Hello Emsee - your comparison site is very useful (especially as I am thinking of replacing my current PVR - though I think I might be tempting fate!)) and its a pity I did not know of it when I purchased my TUCTH100 way back in April - I would have bought it any way!

Just one point, it can "record 2 and watch 1". I have done this a few times, however whether it is dependent on same MUXs I am not sure.

Just thought you'd like to know

Emsee,

Barry (aka Lucky Bar Steward) has actually got a 9200 now and has been able to fill in a few more of the 9200 "unknowns" - see:

Worry about the functionality of these PVRs not the techicalities. I have tested many of them on a JVC DS6 TV and franky the wife (the ultimate tester) can just about notice the superiority of an RGB signal over a composite. For functionality the Fusion FVRT 200 beats the rest hands down. I have just trialled a Sagem 6680, which frankly was a piece of junk compared to the old Fusion FVRT 100 even. The latter cannot record two programs at once, nor can it record two programs sequentially because of the timer overlap locks you out. UPGRADE YOUR POWER SUPPLY on old FUSION PVRs. The original plug mounted power supplies are on there limit when the disc is very active and volts drop below the secure limit for the processors on occassions. Get yourself a N63AT from Maplins 12v 3 amp, FVRT 100 performs better no software glitches since I changed mine. The newer 200 models have the bigger power supply included.

Fab guide, thanks.

Just a quick hint. If you, like me, found the table a little difficult to keep tabs on while scrolling around it on the webpage, you can copy and paste the entire table into Excel, then use the 'freeze panes' feature to keep the models list and feature list on screen as you scroll around...

What a great idea! I never thought of using Excel
Excel seems to export a decent web page of the table so I might switch over to using that to edit the table, export it as a web page and also provide a link to the original Excel file to people can download it, (should make printing the table much easier).

Thanks!

Thanks for the comparison chart.
I'm torn between the Toppy and the Humax 9200, they both seem very similar and apart from the price am i right in saying the Toppy has the edge as long as you bother with all those TAP's?
As i have a Mac and am not that technical i think the Humax might be the one for me?

If you are capable of using this forum, you should be fine using the forum at www.Toppy.org.uk where you'll quickly get answers to any questions you may have. Have a look at Toppy and Macs.

Out of the box, there appears to be little between the Toppy and the 9200. Loading TAPs on the Toppy does seem to give it an edge with the ability to do things such as have the machine record any program with a specific name (without having to enter date/time etc). This allows you to record series, simply by entering the name - no need to worry about dates and times.

You could achieve the same effect as Excel's "freeze panes" on your web page by having a separate frame at the top for the titles, so they stay put while people scroll down the details...

A comparision table is great but it should definitely include this rather important feature:
"start watching a recording that is already in progress" Apparently Humax 9200 cannot do this but other PVRs can.
