Just updated the the table. Thanks.
Edit: can you clarify the 'export video' feature. It is possible to export SD recordings via USB but the HD recordings are blocked from USB export (flagged by the broadcaster I presume). I tried the other USB ports on the box today and none of them will let you transfer recording, in SD or HD. So until the box is updated I can say NO the box does not let you transfer recording to external HDD’s. I have sent an e-mail to MitLondon about the file transfers and the DD 5.1 problem and they have replied today saying they are passing my mail onto head office for a reply. |

PVR HD Spec. My wish list!
Thanks for the comparison table. It is very useful.
Up until a few days ago I was certain that the box for me would be the 3View. However on their site I watched the demo video and realised I did not want to Twitter, nor did I want to connect to facebook. I do not use any social networking sites and ask myself why should I want to connect with someone when I am watching TV. The Opera browser would be useful for watching Youtube but considering the quality of most of its content, viewing it on my 43" Pioneer would be excrutiating. So, I want a twin tuner HD PVR (an external hard drive would not be a problem as I already have one connected to my Technomate 6900HD Combo) the ability to watch a program while recording two others, Connection to the BBC and ITV iPlayers. A card slot just in case SkY decide to market their Arts channel as a separate package The Pace/Philips box does not (at the moment have a connection to the Iplayer, the soon to be released Humax does but I do not have any info. concerning the Dreambox DHR8203U (which at the moment appears to meet most of my wich list) Does anyone have info about the BBC iPlayer on the Deambox and also who Dreambox are? (As a final comment I have had the Pace Twin since just after its release and stuck with it through the various software updates etc.. The hard drive is now failing and IMO its better to put the repair monry towards a new HD PVR) Regards Barry98 |

PVR HD Spec. My wish list! - I forgot
I forgot.
The RED butto is essential. I use it all the time when viewing the BBC. For the weather, news etc. I know I can select 301etc, but the RED button is so convenient Barry98 |

PVR HD Spec. My wish list! Again
I have only just read about the Google TV box. Google have not confirmed it will be available in the UK but if it works it will!
Suddenly the a must have Iplayer on a Dreambox/Humax/Pace PVR looks non-essential. What does anyone else think Barry98 |

What does anyone else think Barry98 ![]() Not a day seems to go by without another one of my devices having internet TV added to it be it my HDR or PS3 and I have never ever even asked for it. For me internet TV is fine for watching TV on a bus with your mobile phone, apart from that I would not miss it unless in the future there is a great improvement in internet band-width so HD TV can be delivered to the TV with no little download clocks appearing on the screen. I have 5.5 Mbs download speed on my connection and if it’s a rainy Saturday afternoon in the middle of winter when everybody stays in and uses the internet then even the BBC iplayer can struggle to deliver a ‘not as good as broadcast’ quality TV picture. |

Can list be augmented with HD versions please and will it be updated with those machines that die (if any) because of the collapse of the 14 EPG updates (see other threads)?

Sorry about the length of time it takes to get things moving - I've not long come down with an immunity disorder which is crippling - however the chemo I am now on have given me a lot of mobility and nimbleness back, which will help for PVR Junction i think. I have nothing else to do now, apart from re-evaluate what a good life there is still to have and be positive about! But having had to make the tough decision to leave job which I love I perhaps can do a bit more for people intrested in PVRs with PVR Junction. Gives me something to do when my health says i can. With today’s update for the DigitalStream box, it does now let you copy programmes (SD and Radio only) to an external HDD. The drive needs to be formatted in the machine for which you get a warning that the drive will not be recognised by Windows PC’s. I have tried this and XP does not recognise it but Ubunto does however, the files cannot be played in Ubunto, but it’s early days. Just to add out of intrest, it also decodes DD 5.1 now as well.

Thanks for thre update. Good news about 5.1 surround sound. I no longer have the Digital Stream but my impression was it was the most sensible PVR out of the FreeviewHD PVRs rushed out in time for the world cup.
When it comes to exporting recordings; is this feature designed to merely hold recordings on external media - but for playback on the Digital Stream PVR? The external drive is not recognised by Windows when connected to a PC (have not tried W7) but can be seen when running a Linux OS. I have read, but not tried, that these files can be played in VLC but again I have not tried this. External drives have to be formatted by the receiver and the format is ‘fsx’ which is new to me. |
