I was on the £46 per month EE4G plan. Just spoke to EE and they have upgraded me from 10GB data to 20 GB with roaming for an extra £1.99 per month. Happy with that

Upgrade with handset or just change of tariff?

That's supposed to be £11.99 extra, I'm impressed if they let you have it for £1.99, particularly so if you actually got an upgrade since 4G hasn't been around long enough for people who took it on day one to be out of contract yet.

Why is it supposed to be £11.99 extra??
At the moment you can buy an iphone 5S on EE EXTRA with 20 GB data, roaming for £99 and £47.99 per month. I paid £99 and was paying £46 per month so surely that's right. Why are you surprised that I am allowed to change my tariff? My understanding was as long as you pay more it's fine?

Eh, go on the website and it's listed as £57.99 a month.

http://shop.ee.co.uk/mobile-tariffs/pay-monthly/

[Edit]
Wait, if I go here:
http://shop.ee.co.uk/iphone-5s-group...nthly/details/

EE lists iPhone 5s with 4GEE Extra, 4GB data for £47.99 a month and £49.99 upfront cost.

[Edit2]

Oh you can choose how much you want to pay for the phone up front. Paying £99 for the phone means the tariff costs £52.99 a month for 20GB. Or if you click the second identical £99.99 button it goes down to £47.99

Utterly confusing dribble from EE's website, as usual

EE website is expensive,I looked at the options and got a better deal at phones 4u,as post above, none of the EE direct plans have a free phone, very strange when a third party have better deals than the network you are going to use,I guess they think you are too dumb to do a little research.if you are due an upgrade put your details on the upgrade page on the website a week before your upgrade date they will call you with deals.

Depends how you define 'better deal'
Phones 4u and carphone warehouse websides only give you the top price for a 4G EE plan and not the option to pay more for the handset initially and then a lower monthly charge. I would always think of the total cost over the 24 month period.

Example iphone 5c 16gb 4gEE 4Gb extra plan
EE direct 39.99 up front and 37.99 per month. Total 951.75
Cpw free phone and 42.99 per month. Total 1031.76
