Response to Alli-F

Definitely agree that those that provoke a reaction make the show more enjoyable.

I do like seeing Anton during Latin numbers, so I can shake my head and snort with laughter.

Brendan I change my mind about depending on his partnership. But yes, of late I like him.

Artem for the reasons you stated.

James makes me want to throw things at the TV.

And Pasha because he's so pretty.

It's all good

I found I like Brendan when I've felt sorry for him, so when he had batshit Michelle or Lulu. Thought he was sweet with Jo. Really couldn't/can't be doing with him with Kelly and Sophie.

Agree about Anton but sometimes I like James, again he sticks his head up and isn't bland.

Pasha - I haven't really noticed he's gone. Artem went early last year and I wore black and a veil until the final.

I really like Sophie but I'm not too keen on her dances except her Charleston and waltz.

Well I've got my black arm band and six black horses booked ready for Sophie's exit.

I don't want Mark to win either. Or Abbey, to be honest, because everything she does has the same feel, and she just doesn't get any better.

The others are more interesting. Susannah isnt' a great dancer, but she can give the wow now and again, that rush of pleasure.

Patrick the same, he's not perfect, he bloody annoys me now and again, but he's got it in him and he CAN deliver.

Ashley is a dark horse, he's learning and struggling, he's got a huge amount of promise and he so, so tries and he GIVES himself, that has increasingly interested me, he has faults, but he's aware and improves and I can see love there for what he's trying to do.

Nat - I want her so MUCH to bring it - she HAS it, she can do it. She's another massive tryer, and it shows, too much. I so want a simpler dance for her, a 'falling in love' instead of the conscientious, performed, difficult choreography.

In short - not Sophie, not Mark not that happy with Abbey. The others I can live with.”

Do you know, I think you've summed up my problem with a lot of the celebs (this series or any other) winning.

I like the winning celeb to demonstrate overall ability across the board. If they're too obviously ballroom or Latin, I feel slightly cheated.

Series 1 - fine (most of them weren't that great anyway)
Series 2 - again fine (Jill was probably a bit better at Latin but her ballroom was up there for the series)
Series 3 - carp (Darren's ballroom was okay and certainly the third best of the series. His Latin, however, (paso aside, or even including if you're me) was bobbins.)
Series 4 - adequate (Mark's ballroom was fairly good without being outstanding - I am aware that I may be committing heresy here)
Series 5 - fine
Series 6 - fine (despite widespread controversy, Mr Smuggitysmug from Smugsville, Smuggletown could deliver pretty good Latin and ballroom)
Series 7 - Erm... shall we draw a veil over this one?
Series 8 - fine
Series 9 - adequate (see Mark Ramprakash but substitute ballroom with Latin. Also, Harry's ballroom didn't quite have the wow of Mark's Latin)
Series 10 - fine (Louis was decent across the board - see Smuggins Chambers for rather different reasons)

So this series -

The only ones who could win it for me (for delivering across the board) are

Natalie

and

erm...
Patrick (sort of)
Ashley (kind of)
and
a bit
Susanna (but not really, only cos there's nobody else and she's been not that bad across both disciplines and she puts lots of effort in and really tries to be the best she can be and... zzzzzzzz)

Tabittha I think you've hit on something important there.

It's important AT LEAST to have a winner who can do both ballroom and latin, at least reasonably.

There's 'personality' but without a proper brave performance in both, then it's just deeply unsatisfying.

And a bit crap.
