..... Which pro would you like to teach you and why? I would like Kevin or Pasha myself as they look as though they make it fun and not too scary.

Vincent Simone - for a number of reasons. He is a good height match for me (so Ian lovely though he is would be not great for me). It would be lovely to be called bella all day. He seems to get good results regardless of the material he has been given on the show. He is good at all the dances - no obviously weakness in Latin or ballroom like some pro dancers. He excels at Argentine Tango which I have been learning/dancing for a few years so I would hope to get an exponential improvement in my social dancing.

I wouldn't mind a try out with Brendan because I like him as a TV personality but I have a feeling we wouldn't gel. But would be interested to try it and see.

Perhaps that also may depend on whether you wanted to learn both Ballroom and Latin styles or one or the other. Some pro's are definitely geared towards Latin rather than Ballroom, but my preference would have to be Brendan as a teacher.

I wouldn't choose anyone from Strictly Marnie, since they would be away 1/2 the year (and my dance teacher is better qualified and better looking ).

But entering into the spirit of the thread, if I were to learn another dance (in addition to ballroom) it would probably be salsa, merengue, or mambo and so possibly Natalie, Kristina, Karen or Janette. I don't think it is necessary for a female pupil to have a male teacher for these dances (in fact there are advantages in being taught by a female). I'm taught Latin by a female.

Re Jennifer's comment. I've heard that Brendan is a very good teacher and very polite and considerate.

Anton, because I'm only really interested in taking my Ballroom dancing to another level. Latin bores me.

Good point and some of the best leads I know in the family of dances that get the salsa portmanteau are women.

Brian Fortuna - because he does the wheelchair dancing & I could cope with that.

I have both male and female coaches for Ballroom and there are distinct advantages, for me, with having a female teacher or coach. Many years ago when I also danced Latin, female coaches are brilliant for the Lady dancer, they teach you the feeling and way to move that no man can.( I am female by the way).

I can believe that. My first salsa teachers were women and they seem to have a very different way of viewing things to the guys.

I have also noted that in the many 'High Street' salsa clubs and classes the teacher is frequently a male who is either a frustrated wannabe performer or the sort of chap who having had his interest peeked by something in this case dance has a sort of nerdy tendency for details, facts, classification. The result seems to be to turn the dance into a sort of mechanical process sometimes overlooking the human being part of it.

I like this thread! It would have to be Pasha or Aljaz but then I think it would be hard for me to control myself if you know what I mean? When I was taught years ago it was usually by some lady with scraped back hair looking very glamorous and really didn't do anything to excite the taste buds of a tiny seven year old.

Ballroom wise, I have to pick Brendan over Anton anytime. Alijz has a lovely frame and posture but Brendan would be more my style.

I would love to improve my dancing. It really needs it as I haven't been to a dance class since I was in my teens. I don't count the line dancing although it was fun. I think I would like to learn ballroom. I like the Latin but I have always felt that Ballroom is the most beautiful. I would love to foxtrot like my Mum and Dad did. So I think I would like Anton as a teacher.

I did for a time have latin and ballroom lessons with a male dancer who used to compete in latin but was currently dancing as a follower in a same sex couple. That had some advantages too.

If I didn't have a ballroom teacher, I'm not sure who I would choose from Strictly. I'm not sure I'd choose anyone actually from the men, although the odd lesson with Ian (very good but too tall for me), Vincent (a bit too short although I agree with An Thropologist that he'd be good), Anton or Brendan would be useful. Of the women, I had a couple of lessons with Izabella Hannah who appeared in Strictly several series back and she was quite good. Obviously going back on all the Strictly series, Hazel and Kylie would be the best ballroom dancers and presumably teachers. Imagine Natalie would be quite good as she's turned in some good ballroom dances with her celebs.

Yes, if you count previous Pros, it would have to be Hanna Kartunnen for Latin and Hazel Newberry for Ballroom. I have attended lectures when Hazel and her former partner where lecturing and have been fortunate to have lessons too. WOW is all I can say.

Pasha all the way.

Interesting comments! I have only done a bit of tap dancing, never ballroom or latin so I hadn't considered the advantage of a female viewpoint. So I am amending my original choice to Kevin and Karen and my husband can be there too. My daughter is getting married in 2015- that might be just enough time to get hubbie and me waltzing. Wouldn't want to be an item on ITT though,

Love the idea Marnie B. I can tell you that female Pro's are very tough ladies, and they would soon whip you into shape. We have always had a good mix of male and female coaches.

I'm far too short but If I miraculously grew I would like Ian to teach me as I always understand what he's saying on the warm up. I'm the right height to dance with KFMFG and I think that would be fun, but going with the idea of learning to dance the steps, rather than learning to partner someone I think learning with Iveta would be enormous fun.

For the nurturing- Robin, and for everything else- Anya; she just seems so calm and friendly, as well as a great dancer.

I think for ballroom Erin (and Anton as well if I could be greedy) and for latin Ian (I'm quite tall), Kevin and Karen, Pasha or Brendan.

Definitely Ian Waite first, then Aljaz.

I think Artem would be too picky.

On an ITT VT Dani said she thought "Bella" meant "Oi". OK I'll call you "bella anna - la pił bella anna" if that would work .. Trouble is I talk with my hands in Italian so that would mean getting out of the close embrace ...

Anyway I pick Flavia Cacace - and just for close embrace AT. And then she gets injured (with a broken heart) because I have dumped her for Karen Hauer for salsa of course [and Merengue as she is Venezuelan]

Matthew Hauer and Karen Hauer
Music / Artist: Cao Cao Mani Picao / Celia Cruz

They should get Karen and Kevin to do a show salsa.

Strange that height differences don't seem to matter (so much) for AT even if the woman is taller than the man though as I am Vincent';s height I don't need look further than Flavia

Natalie would be good for ballroom but I'd need to borrow Sarkozy's Cuban Heels and add a good bit.
