Yes I do - think sometimes they get it really wrong and bring attention to faults with the celeb - hopefully Ashley's pants will dance better than they look - Sophie should be ok no kicks etc in V Waltz so shouldn't get tangled

Kevin looks like he needs his trouser hem weighted.

At least Susanna going last this week means it's less likely she'll go last in the quarter or semi finals.

very true Tissy - last week the short dress brought attention to her bent knees with a longer dress she would have looked so much better - whereas Sophie's dress being long for Rumba covered her straight knees disguising her lack of hip action - so maybe depends on which one designs your dress

Re: the running order - to be fair, it isn't an entirely fair show. Though for some reason (sandwiching may be one?) some of the later slots have been more dangerous than usual. The third slot from opening, which used to be the death slot of death, hasn't had any casualties so far*... and, odd trend, most of the b2 couples have been close to each other in the performance slots (1 or 2 slots away, except first elim). Though could be partly coincidence; Julien had some normally decent slots but was just not popular... at all.

* though if Mark is there tonight, it will have its first casualty for sure.

In regards to the photos, Natalie's dress is really nice. And, Ola looks really different in the wig.

Mark has VPL issue
Ashley is very likely to trip on his pant leg
Abbey looks like this will be a problem dance dress

Can't see how the running order is important.

If she is unlikely to go last in the quarters or semis, then that's SO unfair, scuppering her chances that late in the competition

(As others have hit the "unfair" button, I thought I'd might as well join in as well ).

Yeah, even though we can see she is in knees bent position, that skirt is still one of the longest I have ever seen on the show The bit of rehearsal I had seen didn't seem to warrant that much disguise, so hopefully it has been done for effect.

I know Sophie called her outfit a nightie but her shoes look more wedding day that nightwear (though I know the dress itself looks nothing like Maria's wedding dress).

The last person on usually gets more votes as they are freshest in people's minds and the lines open straight after they perform.

Performing last is the best chance an 'at risk' contestant has of surviving. The later you perform the better.

For the pre-judgers/team fans it isn't.

For those who decide on the night, the last slot is normally the most favourable as this is the dance in recent memory.

So happy with Sophie's dress - I'd been hoping they'd go with a white dress with blue satin sash, like the lyrics of the song ("Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes, snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes...").

Anya looks gorgeous.

Poor Ola - the knee brace is very visible with those harem pants.

Wonder who the people dressed as zebra behind Iveta are?!!

Hope they do something with Kevins trousers before it goes live. Even when dancing the most energetic of Quicksteps, certainly bare legs should not been seen. Must be another wardrobe malfunction. The tailors that make tailsuits seem to over come this problem.

On later = stick in the mind more = more votes

On first = not too bad unless dance is awful = stick in the mind reasonably well = decent votes

On first half (particularly with lots of couples) = performance more likely to get lost (esp 2nd or 3rd) = fewer votes

At least that's the theory.

Second is known as the death slot - presumably it's seen as the position from which it's most likely to get overlooked and result in a poor vote. I don't know if there's any actual research on this though.

Is that an empirical fact, or simply anecdotal?

When I looked first I thought Ashley was dancing with Sophie! I'm just glad Sophie is not dressed as a nun! and as for Mark - well he definitely must have annoyed more than just the wardrobe dept this year to get so many bad costumes!

I can't think of anybody who's gone last and then been shown to be unpopular in the public vote in the resulting, erm, result. Lisa Riley is the only celeb in recent memory to be eliminated (or even in the bottom two) after performing last, and that was in a semi-final basically designed to get rid of her - she finished bottom of the leaderboard and hence could have been as high as second in the public vote.

Would be interesting to see.

Actually just looking at this years results most of the bottom two have dance somewhere in the middle -

The last slot also seems to be the for most memorable dances anyway. Unless you are following a showy Paso with a badly sung Charleston.

Is that definitely Ola, she looks so different!

That might be true, but it does not necessarily follow that it is due to the position, that the public's opinion is swayed by that position. There could be a number of factors at work. And you should be very careful not to draw conclusions based upon incomplete or otherwise skewed data.

Now that could be one of the factors that I referred to in my earlier post

And if it's a memorable dance, then there should be little advantage in the running order as the dance will be remembered (hopefully for all the right reasons).

Where have I moaned that it's her fault? I'm stating the facts. I don't care whose fault it is, it's unfair IN MY OPINION.

Everyone else has had a pretty even spread of going in different places in the show except Susanna and Mark. Susanna has had the favourable draw, Mark hasn't.

Pffftttt! Where's the fun in that?
