There have been plenty of good albums this year in various genres - can't really comment on any of the big name pop acts as I never listen to them and wouldn't like them if I did. All of the albums below are worth a listen

Richard Thompson - Electric
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Push the sky away
Alasdair Roberts - Wonder working stone
Big Big Train - English electric Part 2
Black Sabbath - 13
Blood Ceremony - The eldritch dark
Linda Thompson - Won't belong now
Amon Amarth - Deceiver of the gods
Martin Simpson - Vagrant stanzas
Lucy Ward - Single flame
Man and myth - Roy Harper
Steven Wilson - The raven that refused to sing
Arbouretum - Out of the fog
Pomegranate Tiger - Entities
Billy Bragg - Tooth and nail
David Bowie - The next day
Steve Earle - Low highway
Deep Purple - Now what
Bella Hardy - Battleplan
John Fogerty - Wrote a song for everyone
Suidakra - Eternal defiance
The meads of asphodel - Sonderkommando
Chris Wood - None the wiser
Orphaned Land - All is one
Tape deck heart - Frank Turner
Manic street preachers - Rewind the film
Motorhead - Aftershock
Paul McCartney - New

Nadine Shah - Love Your Dum and Mad - Pj Harvey inspired gothic and brooding rock.

Marika Hackman - That Iron taste - Medieval folky-pop

Parquet Courts - Light Up Gold - Catchy, fun punk rock

Drenge - Drenge - Nirvana recalling rock duo

Jessy Lanza - Pull my Hair Back - Jessie Ware like electronica with a bit of soul

All really excellent, check them out!!!

I'm really shocked at just how bad it is. The songs have nothing about them even though it's supposedly her most personal album ever. Everything is bland, samey rubbish, some of it horrifically dated, and most of it far too influenced by that talentless clown will.i.am, who wouldn't know what individuality was if it bit him on the bum.

I tried to let the album grow on me but it's not happening. The whole thing is a depressing damp squib from start to finish and I never thought I'd be one of the "Britney's lost it" brigade, but she really has. It upsets me a bit too much, honestly, after supporting her since day one and seeing her live twice.
