Sadly this is one area where I do agree with SkyPlatinum. If everybody used more than 20GB then the service would be unsustainable, it was never designed for a home broadband replacement or to be tethered all the time and I suspect Three will remove tethering from unlimited, and instead do unlimited on the phone with a fixed amount of tethering included for free. Either that, or they will just turn up TrafficSense to keep most tethering on unlimited to much reduced speeds, so you can't use full 4G speeds, meaning everybody can enjoy the 4G network.

I see EE as the premium and best overall network including 4G coverage and speed . Three as maverick, good value and basic. Vodafone and O2 as old and struggling but with the best overall voice/text coverage. O2 has the best customer services by far and refresh is clever. I like 3 but do think it struggles indoors and remote areas in the uk.
Didn't Three add the greatest amount of customers in the previous quarter? I guess the deal they're offering is pretty attractive.. Quote:
4G isn't Free and it's not a perk. 3 have made a business decision not to charge extra for it,it's not a perk, it's not free either. The one plan at £41 per month for IPhone 5s isn't cheap

I agree....
That's why i've been paying £12.50pm on the one plan and buy my phones outright. It works out better for me and probably would for about 80% of people. Contracts are for those who can't afford/don't want to pay up front and would rather pay a monthly fee for the airtime and handset. However, you've chosen Three's most expensive deal there. Their other phone deals (example I gave before was S4 Mini) are better than EE and other networks and overall are better value for money. Yes EE have more 4G coverage and perks and maybe worth the money for people who want to pay that bit more for those perks. ![]() ![]()

Completely agree on that one my friend has actually brought an iPhone 5S 32GB from Apple on Finance and he pays 30 pound a month over next 2 years and then got a 12 month One Plan contract from Three works out a pound a month cheaper but he also didn't pay £99 pound upfront. So a saving in total of £123 it surprised me that doing it that way was actually cheaper.
![]() £30 a month on finance as well as the cost for the monthly one plan... i hate when people go on about how it is cheaper to buy the phone outright and go on a sim only....of course it is, but many can't afford to spend £500 in one go for a handset |

My son uses his Iphone tethering for his PS3 . Some of the downloads he gets are 15Gb for just one game so 20Gb is no good.
3 have told me there is no cap on the One Plan for internet and tethering is free. However , they've mis-sold me my last 2 phones so I'm looking to change next time just from principle. But are there any providers apart from Three who include tethering in their deals rather than as an add on? As I'm a Virgin Media customer I was looking to take on a phone with them but tethering not included in their Ultimate Plans |

I think a lot of people will disagree with this. If Three are offering a package then customers should be allowed to use it how they want as long as they adhere to the terms and conditions. Three already have traffic management systems in place and they know what they're offering so by no means is anyone abusing the system by just using over 20GB in a month. Sure, if they break T&C or use it for business or as a 24/7 download device then that is just stupid and against T&C and three can cut them off. But using the package as it is advertised is fine. Plus why do EE offer 50GB packages if anything over 20GB is considered an abuse of the system?
That's like saying the guy at the All you can eat buffet is abusing the system by having three plates rather than 2 which is everyone else that night had. Three's trafficsense system will be changed later when 4G is rolling out to manage the network more efficiently. To answer your other post, sure i post about Three a lot but that's because i'm on that network with my personal phone. I do think you're downplaying Three a lot here by comparing them to a budget supermarket offering or whatever. They are without a doubt quite a premium network now. Yes Three may not have deals with deezer or sky sports but they do offer other perks. Like i said before, EE do offer a lot and there is value in what they offer, hence the higher price. But for the average user then Three is a much more attractive network to be on. |

Interestingly it appears that Three are generally expensive on apple phones. Take a look at another example.
Iphone 5C on three one plan is £41 per month and £49 for the phone EE on the 20GB DOUBLE SPEED plan with roaming, deezer, wifi and £93 quidco cashback is £37.99 per month with. £99 for the phone So three isn't good value for. 99 percent of people where 20gb data is enough who want a contracted iphone. They are more expensive then EE. With no 4G currently, no deezer, no wifi, no early upgrade facility etc etc |

So Three are charging £673 pounds for a £450 phone in relation to the iphone 5C. Pretty good value

Thanks for that input. They are a new network with new technology. The dropped calls have stopped. EE customer service is touch and go, as threes can be. Best customer service is O2. The worse is Voda. In my opinion, EE and three sit in the Middle of those two
Admittedly I do seem to be getting less dropped calls on EE but ive only been working in one area this last few weeks, before I was getting a lot of calls dropped after a few seconds. |

I don’t know about contracts on EE but when it comes to PAYG they are nothing more than thieves and I’ll explain.
Friday I bought an unlocked phone that came with discount under the terms that I buy a £10 top-up. All very well and not having tried T-Mobile/Orange/EE for a good 10 years or more I thought it was time to give them ago. The guy in the shop puts the sim in the phone with my tenner on it and of I go back home. Back home 45 minutes later using my home broadband and I go into my account via EE web portal and my balance is £0-00p. Now I’m thinking this has to be some sort of mistake because never in my 19 years of having a mobile phone have I ever come close to using £10 in three quarters of an hour but having checked my balance and getting a fall rundown on what I have used in those 45 minutes I was able to see the full picture and here I will say one thing good about EE and that’s Orange / EE are very good at showing you where you have been shafted in their very detailed bill breakdowns. In the 45 minutes I had money on the sim I had spent 30p on one phone call (this was from the guy setting up the sim in the shop) and the rest was for data at 69p per Mb, yes folks that’s 69p per Mb. ![]() I could have gone to Spain to set up the phone as it wouldn’t have cost me any more even if I was roaming in the EU. So while I’m driving home with my spanking brand new phone, while it’s in the retail bag it’s used up all my £10. I’m not really that worried to be honest because as I said I just wanted to try their network out while I had a tenner to spend but instead, before I was even given a chance, I was mugged. Still happy with my 3-2-1 sim in the phone now and as far as EE are concerned they have left me hating their guts and I will forever and a day, from this day onwards slag them off with every opportunity I get. Thieving Bar Stewards. ![]() At least with the 3 network they give you 150Mb of free data as thanks for topping up and that 150Mb would cost you £103-50p on the Orange PAYG starter plan.

In that case you shouldn't really be splashing out on a £500 iPhone and maybe instead go for a basic Android £100 handset until you save up the money. Getting into debt never helps anything if money is tight, especially if it's only to take away more of your monthly outcome on some very expensive Apple device. |

Maybe they should save up to buy more things then, usually the only reason why they can't afford it is because of other debts. If you save for things first you can afford to buy them when you need to and without all the interest charges.

To add that you only have to save up once and make do with a cheap handset. Once you have saved up and bought it you don't have any big monthly payments, except for the sim only, then most of the money that would have gone on the £45 a month contract is in your pocket and can be put towards the next phone.

But, I think that there needs to be a clear distinction between the value three offer on these sim only plans and what they offer on two year inclusive phone contracts. My own feeling is that they have dramatically increased the one plan with phone contracts because they have been able to do this in a veiled way through the distribution of new phones. It is much more difficult for them to increase the price of the sim only one plan from say £15 per month to £30 per month which is what they would like to do, because it would seem to big an increase and they can't hide the pricing within the glitz of a shiny new phone. |

I use more than 20GB monthly and know others that do too. I don't see this as the better deal..
On the topic of EE vs 3 I would rather go with EE as they have 4G 3 doesn't at the moment. I'm not saying 3 is bad as it's good for people on a budget or people with no broadband. |

Even when I moved house and had no broadband for a while I never got anywhere close to 20GB and I was even tethering and using Netflix.

There are various reasons for dropped calls. The issue related to the switching from LTE to 2g/3g due to VoLTE not being used by any network.. It's been resolved. I suggest you contact EE
If it had, they wouldn't be constantly appearing on BBC Watchdog. Every single EE user I know (around 30 as my team in work uses them) complains about dropped calls, still to this very day. |
