2 years ago some of my family recommended me to listen to her but I didn't.

Well, I just finished watching some of her live shows and he is pretty good. Really good indeed.

How famous do you think she can be? Where is the ceiling for her? Already has 35 million albums sold in her career. Just 2 albums.

If she can repeat 21 sales on her next album then things will get real serious....

She's probably already hit her peak. The problem she's got is that she seems to depend on others for material for the most part, so she's going to need to keep finding the right collaborators or the right songs to cover to stay at the top for much longer.

However, that's not too much of a problem, as she can obviously already afford to retire very comfortably and she's only 25.

Well, Time Eraser, you're a bit late to the party but better late than never.
I love Adele!

You make it sound like you only just heard about her! lol She's alright, 21 is nice but nowhere near as good as the sales suggest.

She's working with William Orbit, could be on her next album or his,

I agree with that.

She reminds me a lot of Phil Collins in the '80s. I've said it before. Ordinary girl (in his case bloke), seems quite nice, recording a white version of soul music that appeals to the masses, the music gets massively overexposed in relation to its artistic greatness, appears on every chat show and awards show - then eventually people get browned off and nobody admits they ever liked you.

 Phil Collins was NEVER as popular as Adele. She has sold 86 million records (of which 35 million albums) at the age of 26. Anyway, Adele's best quality is her personality.

How utterly shallow and nasty of you people. I'm betting neither one of you are easy on the eye.

Big or not, Adele is beautiful and very talented.

I think she's talented but her music isn't my thing at all. It's really bland and depressing. If I hear Someone Like You once more I'm gonna scream

It might seem odd but she's completely passed me by. The only song of hers that I know is the Bond theme......and I know that because it's a Bond theme not because it's Adele

However........I did think it was terrific so I expect she is really good

Phil Collins solo and Genesis are both in the top 25 biggest selling artists of all time. So yeah I think he's somewhat more popular than Adele....

Nothing ordinary about Phil Collins. His music spanned a few genres. He was a very talented drummer and music arranger. He was a competent accompanist on piano and discovered by accident that he had a decent voice when he took over vocal duties in Genesis in 1975. Just taking the one song he wrote, In The Air Tonight has more power, atmosphere and soul than anything that Adele has so far produced. Phil got lazy and self-indulgent in the end, and sold out in a very obvious way, p1ssing off a lot of fans in the process. But despite that he earned his success over the years. Not the same in Adele's case.

There's nothing racist about it. White people doing Black music forms has happened throughout the history of pop music. Personally I don't consider Phil Collins a great white soul artist, Adele is better, Amy Winehouse is better again but Van Morrison or early Dexys Midnight Runners are the best exponents imo.

I don't think that's racist tbh. Most R&B/soul singers are black, so when a white person does that kind of music they get more attention because it's unusual, etc. It makes an artist more marketable when there's something "different" about them. With Adele, she also had the fact that she's overweight that made her stand out (I'm in no way bashing her abilities as a musician).

I have a feeling you might be joking lol. But if you're not, she's already extremely famous now. I think the ceiling for her, commercially, is the 21 album tbh. I don't think she, or anybody else, will have an album that big ever again (with the album market dying, etc.). I'm still interested in what she has to put out in the future, since I like some of her songs.

Nah she's coming off selling 28 million albums of 21.

She's got a good start to her career with her first 2 albums. I'm expect a lot of sales on her next album.

It's not racist at all, it's entirely accurate.

I'm a big soul music fan and there has always been a watered down white version of soul being offered to the masses. The industry term is 'blue eyed soul' but, while there has always been some pretty decent white soul/r&b artists, they are not the ones who crossover, it's usually the bland ones who end up selling.
In fact, even some black artists get watered down for the masses. Most of Whitneys output was generic r&b lite pop

Apart from the legendary Hip-Hop artists, there are very rarely any great lyricists in other genres. Not really concerned if her music is considered "bland". Since even great "soul" artists have crappy lyrics compared to Hip-Hop legends.

I'm not a massive fan of her style of music but I absolutely love her as a person. she's hysterical!

I own 21, but aside from a couple of tracks (Rolling in the Deep, Rumour Has It) it's nothing special and i'm still not entirely sure how it managed to sell billions of copies (OK, slight exaggeration...) although her personality no doubt helped.

Skyfall is fantastic though!
